Roughly six months into its serialization, Shueisha began releasing a collected edition of the Dr. Slump manga in tankōbon form (11 × 17 cm). This release ran 18 volumes into May 1985, at which point Dragon Balls first story arc was just wrapping up its own serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump.<ref>Toriyama, Akira. Following his work in the advertising industry[1][2] and submissions to open manga contests[2][3][4], Akira Toriyama debuted professionally with Wonder Island, first published 28 November 1978 in the 1978 No. 52 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump. As Toriyama's work transitioned into several more one-shots and onward into his long-form serializations, Shueisha began releasing compilations of Toriyama's prior works.
Each of Toriyama's long-form serializations — most notably Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball, but also Cowa!, Kajika, Neko Majin, Sand Land, and Jaco the Galactic Patrolman — have received their own dedicated tankōbon release, with several also receiving kanzenban and other compilation-style editions.
One-Shots & Short Works Collections
Across 1983 and 1988, the first two volumes in the Akira Toriyama's _____piece Theater (generally translated and read as "blank-piece Theater", a self-deprecating play on "Masterpiece Theatre") collected the majority of Toriyama's one-shots from his debut up into works contemporary with Dragon Ball. A third volume in 1997 covered more of these works up through the prior year. Each of the three volumes were produced in a standard tankōbon size (11 × 17 cm).
Contemporary with the kanzenban release of the Dragon Ball manga, 2003-2004 saw an updated reprint of the _____piece Theater series with a new 改 (generally read as Kai, but indicated here with a pronunciation of Aratame) label under the "Shueisha Jump Remix" line for convenience stores. These three volumes reprinted many of the works previously collected, while also adding in the first Neko Majin Z chapter. Each of the three volumes were printed in a slightly larger (size TBD).
2008 brought the two-volume An Emperor's Feast of Akira Toriyama series, yet again reprinting many of the works previously collected, while now also adding in 1987's Lady Red and 1996's Alien Peke. These two volumes were printed in the smaller bunkobon (A6, 105×148mm) size.

Collections of Larger Series
Roughly six months into its serialization, Shueisha began releasing a collected edition of the Dr. Slump manga in tankōbon form (11 × 17 cm). This release ran 18 volumes into May 1985, at which point Dragon Ball's first story arc was just wrapping up its own serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump.[7] Both Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball would receive multiple runs of collected volume formats, while all of Toriyama's later multi-chapter stories would themselves receive some form of collected volume.
