Dragon Ball Part 1 No. 7 is the seventh issue of Viz's Dragon Ball Monthly Comics, the original English-language printing of the Dragon Ball manga. It was released in September 1998 alongside the seventh issue of the "Dragon Ball Z"-branded chapters. Akira Toriyama's original color pages are printed in greyscale.
This issue's title page including staff credits is printed on page 2 of the paper pages, instead of in the usual place on the inside of the front cover. Page 1 is a custom title page for the issue, using the same art from Dragon Ball Chapter 30 that is used for the background of the regular title pages (including the one on page 2).

The title page of Chapter 12 is omitted. The title page of chapter 13, printed in its original greyscale, is repurposed as a title page for chapter 12. This repurposing began with the Japanese publication of Dragon Ball Tankōbon Volume 1 and persists in every edition of the manga, leaving chapter 13 without a title page. The title page of chapter 12 was not reprinted until the Dragon Ball Digest Edition Legend 1 was published in 2016.
Cover Illustration
This issue's Akira Toriyama cover illustration was originally drawn for the title page of Dragon Ball Chapter 1, published in the 1984 #51 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump, released on 20 November 1984. The title page gets full-page reproductions in Dragon Ball Daizenshuu 1 ("The Complete Illustrations"),[1] and Dragon Ball Daizenshuu 2,[2] and a half-page reproduction in the Dragon Ball Chōgashū ("A Visual History").[3] The illustration is otherwise widely used, serving for example as the table of contents illustration for Akira Toriyama - The World.[4]
Letters Column
"The Monkey's Tales: Dragon Ball Letters Page" is printed left-to-right on pages 31-30. There is a standard solicitation for reader letters on the issue's title page. The responses are written by editor Trish Ledoux. (Parentheses) and [brackets] are Viz; {braces} are Kanzenshuu notes.
Advertisements
The inside of the front cover is an advertisement for Fist of the North Star action figures from Inteleg International; this advertisement is reproduced on the fourth issue's page. Page 32 is an advertisement for the September release of three Viz debut graphic novels: Strain, Dance till Tomorrow, and Banana Fish.
The back cover is a full-color advertisement for the Pioneer VHS releases of the "Namek Saga" of Dragon Ball Z, featuring the latest two installments: "Betrayal" (Vol. 12) and "Zardon" (provisional title for Vol. 13, "Collision"). "Betrayal" and "Zardon" (provisional title for "Collision"). This ad is reproduced on the page for "Dragon Ball Z" Part 1-7.
