I always think with these gang up fights that coordination and synchronisation is lost if you attempt a pile on when your opponent can take advantage of the disorder.

The Saiyans are at least 50 times stronger than Tenshinhan with SSj, since I don't think anyone believes he surpassed the base power of Goku or Vegeta, and the androids made the SSjs look weak. And semi perfect Cell is even more powerful.

But in the Saiyan arc, Nappa, who was nowhere near 50 times ...

I think it would have been a nice addition to the saiyan saga, however even keeping him in the same league as krillin during the nappa fight would have just equalled another casualty really.

I just remembered that vegeta had to bluff his way out of his fight with 20 after beating 19 due to the energy he lost. Now, vegeta didn't seem that tired or that weakened and was still in ssj state but he clearly wouldn't have bluffed his way out if he thought he'd still destroy 20.
