Re: Weird Old Dub Stuff

On a somewhat related note, I'm thinking about doing a re-watch, but in a Toonami Circa 1998-2004 order. I've re-watched DB and Z so many times at this point, I figured why not switch it up. Let me explain: I would watch

The VHS singles from Arrival of Raditz to the end of the Cell Games,

THEN ...

New Texas law and a preemptive/reactionary Dragon Ball manga removal

https://icv2.com/articles/news/view/606 ... n-1-stolen

Give that a read. Interesting stuff. Will the blue bricks and VIZ manga volumes be the last ever fully uncut release of Dragon Ball in the states?

Mine is that Peter Kelamis is the best English Goku voice actor. Always liked that his performance was a bit reminiscent of Nozawa

Re: Do you think you will always enjoy Dragon Ball?

At this point, I'm in my 30s and still love it, so yeah, probably. But I'm like that with everything. I've pretty much been watching the same shows and movies, listening to the same records and eating the same 10 things my entire life...

Re: If you were to rank all the scores in Dragon Ball

I haven't watched Z with the original Kikuchi score since probably around 2006/2007, so help me out. Does it feature any pieces from the original Dragon Ball score? My friends and I are discussing this right now and no one can seem to remember, with the exception of, I'm pretty sure you hear a ...

I wish the Complete series Blu-Ray of Speed Racer that we got here in the U.S. had set a precedent, and led to a similar-looking release of Dragon Ball.

Re: What is your Dragon Ball fandom timeline?

I was 6 years old, and the date was July 8, 1999. My Mom had to stay the night at the hospital with my brand new baby sister. I went home with my Grandma and she let me put Cartoon Network on while I fell asleep. I'm not sure if it was the Arlia episode or possibly one of the 'Fake Namek" episodes ...

Re: All-purpose Dragon Ball sale/trade thread.

I have the entirety of DBZ on VHS Uncut (sans Saiyan and Namek sagas obviously). So all 276 episodes, plus Dead Zone, Tree of Might and Bardock The Father of Goku. Selling it on eBay would probably be an enormous hassle, and I haven't even come close to committing to the idea. HOWEVER, I wanted to ...

Can you select the Faulconer score for Z on Crunchyroll or is the only Dub option w/ the original score?

Re: Sorrow and Melancholy

I would argue that parts of the original Dragon Ball are pretty dang melancholy. Particularly Kuririn's death after the 22nd Tournament, as well as Chaozu and Muten Roshi after that. But like others have said, there's a general lack of consequences regarding these things. I just feel like that's ...

Re: A very important 15-year anniversary just passed (and your opinion on it)

I was beyond excited when the Orange Bricks were announced. I vividly remember using the computer in the family room (back when people only had one computer per household, IF that) and watching that trailer: "Digitally Remastered in High Definition! The way it was MEANT to be seen!"

I wasn't ...

Re: Am I the only one who feels like I missed out on Dragon Ball?

I was there for the whole Dragon Ball Boom of the late 90s/early 00s in the U.S. It was certainly a cool time, seeing it air on Toonami after school, and seeing DBZ action figures every time we went to the store. I really missed that after around 2005 when it started getting less and less. But the ...

Hmm I wouldn't say hard to rewatch. But it does get sluggish at times, I guess particularly the Pirate Cave part. However, Muscle Tower and the Tao fights are some of my favorite moments in all of DB

Re: Dale Kelly narration

I just put in my VHS of the Cell Games - Ultimatum single, because this thread compelled me to. It's been forever since I've watched the tape, but sure enough, there was Dale Kelly's voice in the recap.. It was so weird to hear his voice at such a late point in the series. I guess I always associate ...

Re: Would you pay Funimation via Kickstarter for a redub of the full Dragon Ball media

I would fully support a re-dub of Original Z, because it is, by FAR, the worst offender. OG Dragon Ball was a step in the right direction, and GT I don't really care about. So if I could support a more faithful dub of Z (in the vein of Kai, because I still like the FUNi cast for the most part) I ...

Re: How do you own the series? (2021 Edition)

I have the Blue Bricks for Dragon Ball

and then for Z..

The entire series on VHS singles
The 30th Anniversary blu ray
All of the movie double feature blu rays
Battle of Gods blu ray

And that’s it. I don’t particularly care enough to physically own GT or Super. Honestly, the singles take up a lot ...
