Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

Wow, not sure if the whole “RTD was originally conceived as a complete collection of the original run” is true or not, but that would’ve been awesome! I totally would have and still will buy that if it ever happens. Also, I definitely prefer the Ocean versions of DBZ movies 1-3 as well. The only way...

Yet Another Dub Error

I don’t know if this has been called out before, or if this error is exclusive to the 30th anniversary set. But I just watched Episode 75 - Password is Porunga with the Dub audio. There is a brief scene where we see the deceased heroes on King Kai’s planet, celebrating that the dragon has been summo...

Re: All-purpose Dragon Ball sale/trade thread.

Anyone interested in the art book from the 30th Anniversary set?

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I’ve been watching, on average, 2 or 3 episodes a day since I got my set in the mail. I think I’m on episode 024 at this point. Anyway, I love it! I can watch DBZ in 4:3, the box art looks cool on my shelf, and the Goku figure goes hand in hand with the Super Saiyan 2 Gohan Grandista figure that I g...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Just finished the first disc and I really do enjoy the image. It beats the hell out of my old Season BDs. I rewatched Dragon Ball over the summer in anticipation of this release, and it’s been a really cool experience. Overall, and this is probably gonna sound psychotic, I would give this set a soli...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I honestly never really took the time to admire and appreciate screenshots from the Level Sets until now. Holy crap, those shots look amazing... Now I know why everyone wishes they hadn’t been cancelled. I’m not saying I totally hate the 30th anniversary set, but I am disappointed by the art book, a...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

My post was misinterpreted! The Blue Bricks aren’t included, I just meant I can watch them and then follow it up with the 30th set for a consistent aspect ratio. Which you could accomplish with the Dragon Boxes too if ya had them. Before this I had to watch DB in 4:3 and then Z in 16:9 because all I...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

After seeing all the horror stories about scratched discs on here, I decided to assess all 37 discs in my set. Fortunately only found one minute scratch on one of the discs. Guess I was lucky, but I still feel horrible for anyone who bought this fair and square like me and then opened it and found i...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Got my set this afternoon. First impressions about the packaging are that it’s very pretty in some regards, but also really quite cheap looking in others, particularly the images of characters on the “pages” of the BD books. The outer box is beautiful though, as are the images of Vegeta, Freeza, Cel...

Nice, I got on here to gripe about lack of details and within 24 hours, my order ships. Well, guess I’ll know everything I need to know about this set soon enough then.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

The lack of further details on this thing kinda sucks. I honestly forgot all about it sometime in the last 3 or 4 months, so when I remembered today, I thought I’d find a ton of new info. I wonder if Funi will do a little unboxing/showcase of the set on YouTube like they did for Rock the Dragon...

Definitely Piccolo during the Androids/Cell arc. He’s collected, observant and stoic, but also powerful as hell and his fight with 17 is one of the best of all time.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I would really love it if this release used the font on the Dub title cards that were on every release through the orange bricks. That same old font from the Toonami airings. I never had the Level sets, so I don’t know if those used it, or if they had the same generic-ass italic font that the Season...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Damn, I accidentally pre-ordered this without knowing if it’s gonna have the Faulconer score. Oh well, either way, that packaging is sweet. If I end up with a $350 paperweight, I won’t complain.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I’ve decided i’m going to pull the trigger and pre-order this no matter what. To be truly happy with it, I of course want it to be 4:3, and with better Japanese audio, plus the option for the Faulconer score. So the way I see it, I either get all of those things and have a new set that I’m truly hap...

You can sign me up for sure! If it ends up being 4:3, and also having the Dub/Replacement score, then I don’t care what the price is.

That’s what I suspect the announcement is going to be. Which would be cool as hell. I’d pay for cable just for that alone

Re: Samsung ends Blu-ray player production, impact on DB media?

I’ve noticed that the layman just doesn’t really care about the difference between a DVD and a Blu Ray. There’s a ton of us that love and support the format, but I can’t tell you how many people I know that still buy new movies on DVD because it’s cheaper and they just don’t see enough of a differen...
