Re: Moments when Toriyama's writing method really impressed
If Akira was given no input from his editors how different do you think Dragon Ball would've turned out, I don't know much but given he had pretty much lost all his enthusiasm by the Cell arc I would bet they had a big part in guiding the storyline at that point, while Toriyama just cranked out ...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Doesn't the chapter cover make it seem highly likely that it means they know how Majin Boo came to have that form, and he's going to free the Kaioushin from him?
I also don't see how pure Boo would stick around, seeing as he's uncontrollable and chaotic. I imagine he'll get sent back to his ...

Re: Bankoku Bikkuri Shou Translation?
Should be Palm as far as I know.
It's worth noting that the name is a play on the name of some TV show, so it's kind of weird.

Re: Experience with voice actors
Direction and such can matter a lot. There's been a good number of voice-overs that are pretty bad despite having talented VAs. Star Ocean 4's dub comes to mind.
Dubbing things over creates problems to begin with, because you have to match the mouth flaps. Lots of people thought Yuna in Final ...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
None of the specials are as good as the main series of course, but I enjoyed parts of some of them.
Not bad
Vegetto universe: Pretty amusing at times. The only real annoyance was continuing the monster under the bed joke after the third time.

Re: Pioneer edits
The only movie that would be "edited" would be the first dub of Tree of Might (originally a mini-saga for U.S TV). This was heavily edited and included this lovey shot:

Re: Opinions and rules behind name spellings
While there are a few names with alternatives that could be argued are more correct, just going by the official spellings in the English subtitles would make things easier.
Not that I have an answer for you, but what about Simmons' subtitle translations vs. Mandelin's subtitle translations vs ...

The forum's auto-correcting sure isn't gonna make things easy for this type of discussion, however.

Re: Exactly how strong was Chichi during the Boo Saga?
Huh, that's weird; I could've sworn I read an interview where Toriyama said he forgot to give them tails, but I can't find any such thing now searching for it.
Maybe it was that Toriyama simply didn't want to draw the tails anymore and didn't really care whether it was consistent or not?

The actual reason Trunks and Goten didn't have tails was that Toriyama simply forgot to give them any.

Re: Adult Goku vs. Devilmite Beam
^ I don't understand half of your points. Goku killed people when he was younger, and how did he "commit murder"? Freeza got cut to pieces by his own hand (Goku even tried to warn him), and then the dumbass still tried to kill Goku after he was given some energy so that he could live. Saying Goku ...

Re: Is it spelled Boo or Buu in the Japanese translations?
Our (well, my) logic is that since we adapt バビディ as "Babidi" (and not "Bobbidi"), I'll spell the name as "Buu" instead of "Boo".
So why don't you adapt them as Bibbidi and Bobbidi? That's what their names are based on, and they're rendered the same way.

Vegetto speaking with both voices was inconsistent though, wasn't it? Unless I'm remembering wrongly, the other Potara fusions only had the voice of their dominant component.

Is the "Kienzan" really from Kuririn? I forget if Goku did, but I'm pretty sure Vegeta used something just like it, and Freeza definitely did.

Re: Exactly how strong was Chichi during the Boo Saga?
Basically yes. Obviously everything from before battle powers were introduced is based on the battle powers we got later, so Kame-sennin's reading of 139 from the Saiyan arc seems to be reused in the Daizenshuu as his 22nd world tournament battle power. However, there is a Weekly Jump list of ...

Didn't the battle power listings have Muten Roushi at the exact same BP during the Saiyan arc as what he had during the 22nd Tenkaichi Budoukai?

Re: Videl being left-handed (pic request)
It could just be a coincidence, but I'm thinking maybe Toriyama made her left-handed as a little joke in line with her and her father's naming scheme. In ancient times, left-handedness was seen as a sign of the Devil. (Well, not just "ancient times", but I highly doubt many people believe anything ...
