Dragon Ball Z/3/Budokai Series Official Soundtrack CD's: Impossible to Find?
I remember years ago seeing the soundtracks on CDJapan and eBay and a few other places for fairly reasonable prices. I understand the plagiarism controversy probably caused them to be pulled from stores, but that doesn't explain their consistent absence from eBay--were they simply all snatched up af...

Re: Anyone surprised the original run of Dragon Ball/DBZ/GT only lasted about 10 years?
It isn’t quite the duration of the series, but just how old it is, that always manages to catch me off guard even after all this time. I do remember the year 1997, but of course I was a young kid and it’s strange to think of some of my early childhood memories lining up with the end of a very long r...

Re: "Dragon Ball XENOVERSE 2" Official Discussion Thread
Weirdest omission to me is the powered-up versions of Bojack and #13. You'd think at minimum you'd have those before the first forms. Additionally, they should add model-changing transformations to the next game. So far, the only in-game transformations are minimal, usually hair. For example, Zarbon...

Re: NEWS: Sony's Funimation Global Group to Acquire Crunchyroll for US$1.175 Billion in Cash
I'm as against corporate monopolies as anyone, but it's crazy how far FUNimation has come. When they started on DBZ they were basically starting with zero with no money and now they're this multibillion dollar juggernaut.

Apologies if this is so incredibly on-brand that it's beyond cliché... ... but did someone actually make a video based on a random person entering text into a wiki list? Bandai Namco: "I know how we'll announce our new game... by adding it to our English language Wikipedia page! Yeah, that would ma...

Re: How Would You Handle the Music of Modern Dragon Ball?
I would've liked to have seen Akihito Tokunaga brought back after Yamamoto was given the boot (or at least during Super). He brought a lot of soul to Dragon Ball GT with his OST and there's no reason he shouldn't have been given more to do with the series. If I had to guess they probably wanted to d...

Re: Was Future Trunks: Super Saiyan God a missed opportunity?
Is "god ki" even accessible to Kaioshin of that level in Universe 6? No one even knew about it until Beerus, and I'm sure he would have mentioned something about it (as well as SSJ God itself) during the Buu conflict if he did. Piccolo was able to sense East Kaioshin's ki during the Tenkaichi Budoka...

Re: Toyble's AF
By my recollection, he used to self-publish AF online through his website years ago (probably a decade or so back?). I remember checking every so often to see if he had published any new pages. This was obviously done unofficially, so it's safe to assume he was not paid in any way for it. Presuming ...

Re: Which games are the most "shovelware?"
The one game that I still scratch my head on is Ultimate Tenkaichi . Mainly because of the name--while it should be a minor thing, the name, to me, is strongly suggesting to a less informed person that this is some form of "ultimate" version of the BT games (or RB games in the case of the Japanese v...

Re: What Could Freeza Be Planning???
I doubt Toriyama knows yet. I think it would be interesting if he cloned Broli, though, as an homage to Movie #14, but to be used as his personal beast. Giving Broli a sort of 'rival' and story arc of setting hinself a part from his clone. Yeah, because what this franchise needs is more Broli , rig...

Re: Does English Dragon Ball need higher profile actors?
I mean, the modern dubs from Funi are already perfectly acceptable. Several of the mainstay actors have elevated themselves, through sheer brute force of time and practice, to competent voice acting abilities. You could pretty much take any rando off the street, throw them in a recording booth, and...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks
Is there any reason the Dragon Box masters haven't been standardized at this point or is it just a matter of FUNimation's laziness or thinking their own amateur hour widescreen represents "how the series was meant to be seen"? A rerelease of the Dragon Boxes or even those masters in their silly "Sea...

Re: Best way to watch the English Dub for the first time?
I think for your purposes, this would be the only context in which I would ever advise seeing the original English dub. There's not much point in seeing the most faithful stuff if you're already familiar with it and your whole intent is to see how weird and different the old dub is. I actually think...

Re: What was your first game in the franchise?
My first experience with Dragon Ball in video game form (this distinction matters) was playing a modded version of Pokémon Yellow with a Dragon Ball Z mod using NO$GMB on PC. It obviously didn't work very well at all, but I remember Mewtwo being changed to Freeza which kinda makes sense. :P Eventual...

Re: Has FighterZ made Budokai 3 obsolete?
Budokai 3 has been obsolete since 2008 when Infinite World came out. Unless you consistently play with other people, that Dragon Rush nonsense is inexcusable, and the CPU loves to spam it. FighterZ is the better fighting game, but it completely lacks soul and takes the "generic guitar licks" route f...

Re: Can we talk about the Funimation Movie Soundtracks?
I disagree that this is one of those things you just don't do, I think it's fine for what it is. Besides later movies did lean heavily into this type of music even in their original versions with songs like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trT-QaYV4NM So looks like Toei took influence from the...

and also ska is considerably better then nu metal. A lesser of two evils, to be sure. I love that kind of Nu Metal/Alternative sound, so it was pure heaven for me. No it may not have been what Toriyama had in mind, but I thought they still fit pretty well. I think years of watching fans create thei...

Re: Kakarot vs Kakarotto - The Vegerot/Veg(ito) effect
Kakarotto would have been a better choice than Kakarot. Why does the pun need to be conspicuous? In Japan, it sounds exotic or shiny because it’s an English pun. But if we render the pun directly (Cacarrot) is sounds/looks mundane. Somewhat concealing the pun seems to be less egregious than the hor...

Re: Can we talk about the Funimation Movie Soundtracks?
Putting that music in probably ranks for me the biggest cardinal sin FUNimation did with their dub of the series. It's like they wanted to see how far they could take their creative liberties. It's such a distortion and departure from what dubbing should be which is merely taking foreign content and...
