Gohan is in a sort of hell zone, and the rest have been systemically destroyed in terms of relevancy..
If they have any intention of sticking even sort of close to the ending of Dragon Ball Z, it kind of makes sense. Gohan was clearly a scholar and no longer a fighter, Goten got beaten up by a ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super to Simulcast on Crunchyroll, Daisuki, AnimeLab
I'm surprised Toei would send it to a streaming site that streams for free.
Also, wonder if this means the older series; DB, DBZ, and DBGT could be up on streaming sites?
Last I checked, all Dragon Ball, Z, and GT are all up on funimations streaming platform.
Both subs and dubs? And in what ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super to Simulcast on Crunchyroll, Daisuki, AnimeLab
I still can't watch it because I've got the audacity to not be born in MURIKA!
It's free on Daisuki! I just checked it out. Installed the app, made myself a member, and as a result i've already got to test it out by watching 2 episodes of One Punch Man! Totally LEGAL! Woow! It works perfectly ...

Re: So is Tarble now non-canonical?
Thats not how canon works. If it worked that way, then everything would be canon to something, we would just have to specify to what, and all meaning of saying that something is canon would be lost. For example, movie 7 is canon (to a continuity that includes it). You could do the same to anything ...

Re: Do you watch non-canon episodes/movies of the series?
I'm not overly concerned with what is or is not canon. I just rewatch things in order. Having to worry about what episodes to skip and everything would have ruined the series for me if it was something to be concerned about when I started watching the show, I don't see it as something to worry about ...

Re: Dragon Ball things you never want to hear again
I agree with some of the stuff already listed. One thing I haven't seen mentioned though:
Hearing "I know what I'm talking about, I've been a fan FOREVER!" used in a discussion when that person wasn't even alive when I started watching the show. Even if you have been a fan since the original manga ...

Re: Future of Dragonball
If GT was popular then won't there be more merchandise of the show? Most of the toys that I've seen in the past decade have been based on DB and DBZ.
Right, which is why I agreed it wasn't near as popular as Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z.
Not to mention people on the web in the past 10+ years ...

Re: Your First Dragon Ball Message Board
Man, I wish I was born in the early 80's, having to buy fan subs and go on Aol chatrooms to talk about Dragon Ball. It sounded cool to discover the series that way.
Eh, it had some big downsides.
First, AOL chatrooms were terrible. For every person having an actual discussion you would have ...

Re: Future of Dragonball
Going from what I've been told over the past decade that GT is not very popular in Japan at all. DB and DBZ are much popular since more people grew up with them and there is more merchandise of those two shows. I don't think GT being in heroes is enough to say that GT is popular.

Re: Your First Dragon Ball Message Board
Probably alt.fan.dragonball or some sort of rec.arts.anime fansub group. I really don't remember, it was 1996 or so and I had just discovered there was more in Japan than what I was seeing Saturday mornings. Realistically, not sure if it counts, it was probably the forums on retrogames or something ...

Re: Future of Dragonball
I doubt a sequel to GT would do well given how unpopular GT is in Japan.
I see you say this a lot in various threads, but is it really that unpopular in Japan? They released DB Heroes stuff based on GT, and it's been incorporated in various games, along with a bunch of figures released. I know ...

Re: Anyone catch this?
Put more bluntly, the anime was created with the intent of helping to sell the merchandise in Japan. Over here in North America (and other places), the anime intself ended up being the main product of concern among consumers. Sure, I'm certain that the anime probably helped sell some DB toys over ...

Re: VIZ 3-in-1 Editions Coming Summer 2013
They are retailing for $3 cheaper ($2 less with Amazon discounting them) each so it makes sense. If you are talking buying the entire series (14 VIZBIG volumes) then that is a good $42 difference to someone new to the manga. Some may also prefer the more traditional size, and I could see bookstores ...
