Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray

Grain on this release is very heavy and while grain is a good thing with an animated show like this I do feel it could have used a little bit more dvnr.

I don't like the english title cards, very jarring if you are watching the original language version when a cheap looking title card written in ...

Re: Saban-Era DBZ Biblical Refrences

Was there a particularly religious script writer on staff or being the 90's were those being made to appease the fundie crowed when they were at their height? Something else entirely?

You're probably overthinking this, the writers were probably just trying to get across meaning in a way that ...

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray

I didn't even know ANN still existed, that site must be ancient.

The reviewer Carl Kimlinger seems infamous for his C+ review for Death Note and I found this hilariously cliched quote from him about Gundam 00 "its political flavour [...] is distinctly post-9/11".So take from that what you will.

He ...

Re: What is the darkest moment/theme in Dragon Ball?

One extremely disturbing scene that comes to mind, though it's only a small panel long, is the one when Gohan notices a family, that had been out camping, had been killed by Babidi and his men. I think we even see the woman cut in half.

I never noticed that before, dead mother cut in half ...

Re: Naho Ooishi's 3-Chapter V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yesterday's_Enterprise

The story seemed similar to that popular Star Trek episode, Toriyama is apparently a Star Trek fan so it's possible the idea came from him.

If Bardock was sent back in time by the massive explosion caused by the destruction of planet Vegeta I'm ...

Re: Was Piccolo shafted by Toriyama in favor of Vegeta?

Piccolo is some weird alien dude with antenna and a turban with Vegeta I think a good quote that sums him up is "Women Want Him, Men Want to Be Him".Vegeta is like Han Solo or the Fonz of Dragonball.

He is just a much more marketable character.

Re: Ooishi Doing V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock

No, as I said before, this story really cemented my statement, that Naho Ooishi isn't a good storyteller, even worse than lot of fan-fiction writers. It was really dull and somewhat it don't have that adventurous feel like the classic series had and those fights don't have any dynamic and ...

Re: Ooishi Doing V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock

Don't really like the art in this, if they were going to bring a new artist onboard instead of getting Toriyama to do it I wish they would have let them use their own style and done something more original.Aping someone else's art just doesn't work for me, seems like a transparent corporate cash ...

Re: Is GT really inconsistent?

GT has movie characters in the show right?
That brings with it a whole load of inconsistency.

People wouldn't notice these plot holes in the first place if they found the series entertaining.

Re: Screenshots of Dragon Ball Manga on VIZ Manga App (iPhon

Hmmm, Fist of the North Star is a shonen series just like Dragonball. If you translated that into english do people really think swears like "fuck" and "shit" would be out of place in that series even though it was targeted at younger audiences in Japan?

To Love Ru is also a Shonen Jump series but I ...
