Well no surprise
They want to be seen as cool and co-opted by anything and everything so including well known memes and iconography from popular and memetic franchises and using it to legitimize their imperialist conquests is to be expected.
In short the world is fucked and the rights holders can ...

Re: [Theory] The definitive proof that Future Goku NEVER learned Instant Transmission
As far as theories go, I do think it fits.
Toriyama with all his whims, particularities and absurdities might very well have intended for Cell's arrival and therefore further splintering of established history as being the cause for everything turning out differently, even the event that isn't ...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Powerscaling is not as bad as it's made it out to be.
In Dragon Ball in particular it granted us an insight into the different writing philosophies between Toriyama and Toei writers.
In Toriyama's case being a more measured approach to power ups and more justifications, whereas Toei writers seemed ...

Re: Kid Boo Finale... Was Namek Necessary?
Maybe, if Vegeta hadn't conjured up that solution out of nowhere.
He didn’t, really. He’d already been hit by that same attack before, so he knew exactly how devastating it could be. And this time it wasn’t even the standard version. They had to power it up way beyond what Goku used on Earth, so ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Double posting bc the two unpopular takes are so unrelated.
GT is better dubbed with the Menza score, and I say this as someone who prefers the Japanese version for everything else.
The corny dated approach actually improves GT and sometimes the dub makes legitimate corrections to the plot that ...

Re: Vegeto vs Gogeta in the manga
Yes, I agree
Buu seemed to think Goku merged with Vegeta would not be enough and Vegetto also claimed surprise at how strong he got.
Their only prior knowledge of merging bodies and how much power that produces is from the Fusion Dance, so they are basing it on that.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Last 4 Z movie villains in the original run of Dragon Ball are all mostly non verbal mythical beings/abominations.
Their dialogue for those who do speak is restricted to nothing more than saying a name over and in the case of movie 10 Broly having one line said before the beam clash at the end in ...

Re: Dragon Ball Genkida Matsuri 2026 on january 25th will have Dragon Ball announcements
Something I'm happy about is that the studio acknowledges there's room for improvement. The most frustrating argument during Super's run from certain fans was "something similarly bad has happened before in the franchise therefore you should accept it happening in Super to any extreme". Any minor ...

Yes, the Goku arrival time always rubbed me the wrong way thanks to everything you mention here.
Bulma should have given Trunks all the correct info, so it wouldn't make sense that she somehow neglected to tell him about Goku's teleportation, if that was how he came back and defeated Freeza and ...

Good write up
The kinda in depth explanation I would have preferred in the story proper
Too bad the manga is too fast paced for stuff like this and it's usually just surface level explanations

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Ambition means nothing when paired with bad execution.
Yes that's fair
I am probably also giving the DBM team more leeway, since they are fans essentially doing it for free, while I would naturally have way higher standards for the franchise proper, so there would be that too.
Still it is what ...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Pretty cool.
I will say this, the DB Multiverse team are much more ambitious than official DB has ever been and even with all their flaws, I appreciate their stories much more than the modern canonical stuff.
Corporate Dragon Ball just doesn't do it for me anymore to be quite frank and it figures ...

Re: King Vegeta was a genius
King Vegeta was also right about Broly. Paragus tried to claim that Broly would aid the saiyan race. This must have been immensely tempting for Vegeta, a way to really escape Freeza and Beerus's rule.
How in the hell would you know that? We have no way of knowing if exiling Broly was the ...

Re: Goku's Power-level as a toddler
Goku could be strong physically without ki being a factor.
I feel like there must still exist differences in relative strengths between different species and races and so on, that doesn't exclusively come down to ki.
A human with equal ki amount to a rhinoceros is not going to be as strong, I think ...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
On Nappa’s power itself, I’ve just come to accept it as a plothole. The change in his perfomance is too drastic to be a mere shouki issue, he couldn’t even see suppressed Goku. The big differences in numbers also make it hard to swallow: He struggled with 2800 and got clowned by 5000, but he keeps ...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
Yeah it's kind of a pet peeve of mine when people either forget or ignore that Nappa and Vegeta have static battle powers in the Saiyan arc
Yeah, we had that debate many times before.
I can't really blame people too much, since from a visual standpoint, we basically see Nappa and Vegeta ...
