Bulma and #18 because they transcend being sexist stereotypes.
"Catty bitch" and "ice queen who gets defrosted by a hot beef injection" aren't sexist stereotypes?
I said "transcends". They do have stereotypes woven into their character, but there's more to them than just those qualities ...

The picture at the top isn't cute at all. It's crossing into the uncanny valley. Scares the hell out of me.

Re: Who lives in Australia
I live in Adelaide. I remember watching the first episode of the Ocean Dub's Dragon Ball Z on Cheez TV as a child(before it got replaced by the crud that's on now!). I can't say I follow much football, so I guess I'm not as Australian as I think I am.

Re: Tao Pai Pai Appreciaton Thread
What's with all these character appreciation threads today? I swear, If I see a Shu and Mai appreciation thread, I'm eating my hat.
I'm obviously joking, continuing what I did in the Bardock thread.
I like to think of them as writing exercises.

Re: DB relationships
Yeah, I was lucky to run across some halfway decent yaoi fics pretty early on (but I probably also had lower standards earlier on). With my constant effort to improve my writing/critiquing skills, I guess nowadays I'm a bit more of a fanfic snob. I mean, I still read some kind of "eh, that's ...

Re: DB relationships
Yeah. It's probably got something to do with that most-fan-fiction-writers-are-girls thing. Fan fiction is a self-gratification phenomenon and since most girls aren't attracted to girl-on-girl... Yeah.

Re: DB relationships
Oh, yes, I totally agree on that point. (Rather, those points.) I feel like I mentioned something related earlier but it might have been part of a long post that I shortened. XD I hate it when (in your example of Goku and Vegeta, which I think is the most common one) the two of them go to happy ...

Re: DB relationships
I don't have anything against yaoi. I just don't like to ridiculous things they do to the characters. Not to mention how OOC they usually are. Perhaps the most irritating part of all is the way the try to get rid of the canon female characters that are with the various male characters to begin with ...

Re: The lack of a crowd at the 23rd Budokai
I agree. We go through 153 episodes of Goku meeting and getting to know all his friends. You'd expect them to be at the wedding. But no. Instead we get a couple of random villagers and Baba. Screw you Toei!Bura wrote:What annoyed me more was the absence of Goku's friends at his wedding in the anime.

Re: DB relationships
I don't know about Vegeta/ChiChi. Perhaps it's just my memory, but I don't actually remember them ever interacting with each other. I like my couples to have some sort of interaction to base stuff on.
But then we don't see much of Vegeta and Bulma interacting before they got together, and Kuririn ...

Re: DB relationships
It was more like 14-15 and 23-24 ish. I can't remember, and don't keep in touch with people lol.
Actually since Pan was born in 779 and Trunks was born in 766, they are 13 years apart so they would be either 10/23 or 15/28 depending on how long after Z it(GT) is set. I'm such a frickin' nerd ...

Re: DB relationships
Gohan didn't turn female, my idea was just that instead of being male, he's now female because how else would he give birth to a Saiyan-Namekian hybrid (who I'll, for the time being, call Goccolo)? Piccolo never grew a penis; again, I'm just acting under the premise of, perhaps, that Namekians ...

Re: DB relationships
Last night, I was thinking about a potential relationship that, if done right, could be a good read. GohanxPiccolo. Now before a lot of you go, "That's sick, Gohan's a kid and Piccolo's asexual!", it's actually probably one of the most obvious partnerships in the series. They already have a close ...

Re: DB relationships
Poor, poor Oolong and Puar. There's still hope for them though! If yaoi fangirls can make Goku pregnant with Vegeta's baby, anything is possible. In fan fiction at least.
Wtf? Please tell me that this Goku is female?
Unfortunately not. It seems that in yaoi fandom, two people in love ...

Re: DB relationships
What gender is Puar anyway? Some say male, some say female.
I think it's meant to be a male. But when you have the power to change into any shape, anything could happen! They would certainly have an interesting sex life.

Re: DB relationships
Dragon Ball fandom is a bit specific one- anime suffer from lack of woman characters (but luckily it doesn't suffer from yaoi fangirls like some new series).
I beg to differ. Dragon Ball yaoi fangirls are some of the scariest ones out there.
