Re: Weird Old Dub Stuff
This isn't "weird", but I was watching the Buu arc Funimation dub and I really like Rick Robertson's Dabura and Duncan Brannon's Babidi. I think they are one of the few voices in the dub that aren't obnoxiously annoying (along with Dameon Clarke's Cell which I think is very good). Not only that ...

Re: How do you feel about the trope where everyone waits for Goku?
There is nothing wrong with Videl being weak compared to the Z fighters, when she is written to be a ordinary human who didn't do any special training.
She's no ordinary human. That's factually incorrect. On a couple levels:
1. She's the daughter of the "savior of the world", a celebrity- that ...

Re: How do you feel about the trope where everyone waits for Goku?
One issue I have the with the 'Gohan beats Super Buu' narrative is that it lacks any meaningful development. If there had been a story showing how his failure against Dabura made him realise the importance of training—even if he finds it boring—it could have felt earned and compelling. Instead, we ...

RIP Mr. Shioya. Your work as Majin Buu is part of the reason Buu is my favorite Dragon Ball villain.

Re: Hans Zimmer and a Dragon Ball live-action movie
I find Hans Zimmer to be overrated. He is very talented and has made great music. But, I feel like a lot of his music sounds the same.
This. He's good at making music that sounds "epic", but his style as a whole has always come off as generic to me. His work is polished, but not very distinct ...

Re: Dragon Ball Genkida Matsuri 2026 on january 25th will have Dragon Ball announcements
Anime Moro- In the past I have expressed interest in seeing an animated adaptation of the Moro arc, so I can't say I'm not intrigued by this announcement. I'm still interested in seeing how it'll be different from the manga.

Can Imperfect Cell regenerate based on a single cell or as long as his nucleus is preserved? Or is his regeneration limited compared to the other forms of Cell?
The way Cell's regeneration works doesn't change between forms. He can regenerate as long as his core remains, Namekian-style.
The ...

Re: Torishima's Harsh Take on Akio Iyoku and DB Store
I'm not particularly fond of Akio Iyoku. Daima was the final confirmation for me that nostalgia pandering with low hanging fruit seems to be the only idea he has for new Dragon Ball stuff (While I love Daima, I didn't need Super Saiyan 4 to be in it and he's likely the reason it's there when that ...

Re: Dragon Ball Official Worldwide Character Popularity Poll
This should have been ranked choice voting imo if they want to see who has the most mass appeal.
Bardock and vegito have no place here, this is based in the manga and bardock appears in one panel. Vegito is one like one fight and his entire personality and design are a composite of two others ...

Re: Dragon Ball Official Worldwide Character Popularity Poll
The franchise started with the manga, so the 40th anniversary of the manga is the 40th anniversary of the entire franchise. There's no reason not to include characters from DBS, which is the official and canonical continuation of the original manga.

Re: Dragon Ball Official Worldwide Character Popularity Poll
It's a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the manga. Not hard to understand why the character selection is such.
This is all a marketing stunt, it's not a scientific study about the "best" Dragon Ball character.
Let people have their fun.
This. Thank you.

Re: In order to continue DB's story in an authentic manner, Jump should create a Toriyama AI bot
There's an indie film to be made here where two or three losers bring Toriyama back from the 1980s when he was still in his prime to draw new Dragon Ball for them, but all he does is sit around their apartment and play video games, build models and watch new action movies while they have to grapple ...

Re: In order to continue DB's story in an authentic manner, Jump should create a Toriyama AI bot
But more to the point, if you wanted more actually-authentic DB, you'd have to bring Toriyama back to life and make him draw comics again. Good luck.
Ironically, the idea of someone going to the trouble of bringing Toriyama back to life just to have him make more Dragon Ball stories for ...

Re: Who is the next villain you'd like to get recycled?
I know it would be a terrible idea, but I'd like Piccolo Daimaoh to return in some form. It would be cool to see him confront Piccolo. Maybe they could even fuse, like in that GBA game.
Thinking about it:
Since the current Piccolo is completely reformed, for another Piccolo Daimao to be ...

I've watched Yugioh in Japanese. It is a different experience. You can appreciate it more when there isn't music going on all the time like in the dub.
I've said this many times in the past, but that right there has always been one of my main problems with Funi's Z dub.

Re: Should Dragon Ball's canon be reset?
The only thing left to do would be to make a remake of the anime that is truly faithful to the manga, with things like Bulma having purple hair, Namekians having four fingers, or removing Gregory entirely.

I also remember seeing the guy dissolving in the Cartoon Network airing so I'm confident that at most it was just shortened as EF2024 said.

Re: Official confirmation Toriyama wanted to end Dragonball at the Cell Saga
Actually, this helps me remember that the anime adaptation of the Majin Buu arc was certainly a godsend in more ways than one. ESPECIALLY for Buu murdering the cast on the Lookout.
Indeed. The anime adaption is the version of the Buu arc I prefer, and that's because it does a lot to smooth over ...
