I try not to think about Goku's height.

I've heard 5'7" way shorter than me, sort of ruins my perception of him.

I have a suspicion that this sudden interest in Goku's height stems from Son Goku's wikipedia article, where a certain poster was attemtping to have Goku's official height changed because the Daizenshuu didn't match the Japanese wiki Goku.

As Krillin was a head shorter than Goku at the end of DB and beginning of DBZ, I assumed he was about 5'0". True he seemed to get shorter later on...

Daizenshuu 7 doesn't seem to give the height for any characters besides Goku. They might be listed in another book, but unless I have a specific reference I can't look it up.

Well, if it makes any of you feel better, 175cm=68.897638 inches or 5'8.9..."...even if we consider his height in centimeters to have a fractional part, he is still less than 176cm=69.291339in=5'9.2..."

The best option here (if it bothers you so) is probably to assume the writers of the daizenshuu pulled the value out of you-know-where, or to consider that since there was no specified time at which the measurement is reported. If you assume the latter you can consider that it was possibly taken when Son Goku first appeared as an adult (at age ~18 at the 23rd tournament). You can even <i>further</i> construe this argument, and claim that saiyans have different rates of growth than humans (since Vegeta went from what I'd call only slightly taller than Kuririn to being almost as tall as Goku; Vegeta also stated at the end of the manga, that saiyans are in their prime for much longer, being a warrior race and all...), and so he was still growing at the time of the measurement, and therefore could indeed have grown a few inches.

(Yea, I think I tried too hard...oh well....)

Here's another way to look at it:
If the Daizenshû staff didn't mind making stuff up, why did they stop at Gokû's height? Why aren't the other characters' heights listed as well?

Oh, wow... this is... educational.

Yah, I've always heard he was 5'7" as well, which, while definitely taller than I am (I being a measly 5'3 1/4" ;__; ), made him at least a half-inch shorter than my sister. Imagine her being able to stand over the strongest guy in the universe, hah... but then his massive hair height steals the show. DAMNIT! D:

But, if "officially" he's actually 5'9", well... I suppose you can scratch that thought. Goku retains his dignity height-wise!

I think he's still shorter than my dad, though.

As an interesting note, I watched 'Jesus Christ Superstar' last week, and the comment about Goku being taller than everyone when he walks around town reminded me about how every time Jesus would come out of a crowd of people, you could clearly see that he was, like, 8 inches shorter than everyone.

Anyway. 62 kilos is about 136 lbs. In case any of you yanks were wondering

That's how much he weighs, right? The American "official" stats say he's 137 pounds, so that's really not that far off. How much is 62 kilos exactly, though? That's about 136.4 pounds total, right? (Or do I have the wrong conversion rate for kilos? o_o; )

In any case... I've seen 136-ish pounds on people around his height, and that's pretty damned skinny for a muscular guy who does martial arts, especially for someone who's a bit taller than what some of us thought. Our Son Goku is leeeean.
