OFT, which is part of why I'm leaning towards these DBZ R2 Singles. On a unrelated note, good to have you back Desire!

Season 2 is already in the top 20 best selling anime DVD's on Amazon.com (comming in at #15) beating out both Naruto box sets and... many other anime DVD's. Thats a little crazy being its like 3 months away from its release date. Also, season one is #2, it sure as Hell would have been #1 if not for that re-release of the Final Fantasy 7 movie.

Wow. The big orange boxset beat out eight Studio Ghibli movies.

I believe the highest rank the Season One set reached on Amazon's sales charts was like... #80, on the week it came out.

One plus to this whole thing, is that those of us who can't understand Japanese finally have a means of owning the entire series in sight, which makes me happy about this, and I will continue to buy them, regardless of my misgivings and complaints. Because in the end, minus the cropping, this is still the same original show (if in Japanese with subtitles, of course).

Also, do you guys think FUNi will release DB and DBGT this way, like the Dragon Boxes? And maybe we'll see the movies released this way.

I fully agree with you here, as I will also be continuing to purchase this sets. It is just disheartening to know that this is the only version of the show we can (an probably for a long time will only be able to) get in North America. Sadly, Dragon Boxes are just too damn expensive. We can dream, can't we?

I'm wondering how an AMV using this footage would be received. I'm sure there's something I could make with it...

Hmm....would be interesting to say the least. I'm sure a lot of people would be going 'WTF?! 16:9 DBZ?!!' (I mean, how many people actually know about these boxsets?)

They could probably release the movies, as we saw that trailer demonstrate. The very least, we'd have a lower quality version of the Movies Dragon Box set. DB and DBGT, on the hand, I do not want to see a release like this. For one thing, they're more widely available than DBZ, and they're pretty darn excellent.

It's been pretty much confirmed by the Tech Trailer that FUNi will, at some point, the movies, probably after releasing the series.

As for DB and DBGT, I would hope so. Considering how good the sets are doing, I would be surprised if the didn't do it. But this is all just speculation.

Wow, these box sets ARE doing pretty good, are they not? I doubt no amount of letters could stop Funimation at this point, because I'm sure they got more than what they were expecting.
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.

Funi more than likely won't release more DragonBall sets. They've already released 14-153 in near-perfect season sets. They won't re-release those episodes. The only DragonBall set they'll release in the future is the first 13 episodes.

To Ex-Dubbie (my PSP is shit with quotes, sorry):

Totally, bro. :D

I found the cropping a bit less taxing on the eyes, considering I based my perception of how much "empty space" there was on other things (widescreen films, for instance), which led me to believe there'd be a good amount cropped. However, while not as bad, it looks awkward to me.

I'm actually considering making one. I've been meaning to make something to serve mostly as a test for my budding AMV-ing prowess, and a cliched but decent Goku vs. Vegeta AMV might do the trick...

The "Temporary Box Art" tag line has been removed from most listings of the season 2 set (Amazon.com, Rightstuf.com...).

That probley means, that will be the official art of season 2. :?

I'm not going to buy it. I'll probably get the Dragonbox singles. I thought the Saiyan Conflict sounded a lot better than the "Vegeta Saga!"

Damn right. The Vegeta Saga sounds like its trying to be all hardcore or something I really don't know. Regardless, it's rubbish.

Interesting to know that my "false advertising" tags are still on Amazon's entry for both seasons. :p

Until the aspect ratio icon on the back says "4:3" I'm not even gonna bother. I held out on Season One, I can hold out on this one.
