Sorry to say it, but I really can not wait to watch these specials again "The way they were meant to be seen.

I hope it's not too much to ask, but I was hoping someone (with either the "remastered" editions, or the Dragonbox) could upload the eyecatchers from the specials?, as I've never seen them before.

Well, I don't post here much-I'm more of a lurker, but I took some screencaps from Bardock. Personally, I was rather impressed with the quality of the image, but you can decide for yourself:

Anyone else think the image looks a little stretched?

It's not in the correct aspect ratio. Straight up 720x480 images.

Well, before the focus of the thread irreversibly turns to these smexy new screencaps, I'll reiterate...
SSj Kaboom wrote:How long is this double-deal thingamajiggy at Best Buy going on? Was it just for the release day (I hope not) or is it ongoing for the next week or something? I wasn't planning to pick both this and Season 4 up at the same time, but I may anyway if it'll be cheaper in the long run.
Anyone?

I just bought it today. It looks awesome on my TV.

Here are few comparison shots:

^ That one isn't exact, but it's pretty close.

The next few probably also aren't exact, but they are mostly pretty close to the source images.

This is easily the best looking "remastered" release so far.

The picture is slightly blurrier but the colours are much nicer, the cropping however does still annoy me a little, the Tv specials were re-released here (Australia) last year, so I don't need to pick them up, but if that wasn't the case I would definitely grab them.

SSJ Kaboom, I don't know how long the sale is going on, but I haven't seen anything that says it is only this week. Don't hold me to that, though!

Also, does anyone have any old History of Trunks caps? I want to do some comparison shots from that, but I can't find any old screencaps, and I don't own the first release.

Wow, it kinda looks like... actual celluloid now. Much better NR job this time around, I'll give them that much.

I can do History of Trunks caps. They'll be up... soon, and in the same fashion as the Burdock caps.

Thanks. I just took a lot (410) caps of History of Trunks, so I'm ready whenever you put them up.

I took some screencaps, sorry for the lack of timestamps, also be aware these are from the R4 release (Madman are known for less than stellar NTSC to PAL conversions)

*edit* Removed them because they're posted again below*edit*

It's all good! :) Thanks for these!

Also, I fixed the problem with the images being stretched.

I think the colours are slightly better in the new releases, and of course the bit-rates, but there is still some detail loss (though no-where near as bad as in the previous remastered dvds) not to mention the cropping.

Still, it looks the best so far (though I'm yet to see it in motion)

Wow, talk about not fitting the mood of the special.
Yeah, because a love-song TOTALLY matches the mood of the Bardock-special. (Don't get me wrong, Hikari no Tabi is a fantastic song, but it just doesn't feel right combined with all the fight-scenes they show in the credits.)

And about the screencaps: For some reason the Bardock-special seems to be a lot sharper than the Trunks-special... Apart from that, the cropping doesn't seem that bad on this release. I'm still glad that I already have the original releases (Well, the Bardock-special is the R4-release, but the only noticable difference is the subtitle-font anyway.) and won't have to buy this one, though.
