They proved so in the "Dragon Ball Collector" issue of SJ. Why just not use the Kanzenban covers? This is obviously their version of it. It's like their being dumb and lazy if you ask me.

It totally feels like they're being lazy with the covers. :(
Then again I haven't had much faith in Viz lately, what with their 4 month wait between each One Piece volume they release. (Not to mention what's going on with YYH).

You can't tell me they couldn't release OP faster what with that whole three volumes PER MONTH thing they had going on with Naruto last I checked.

Do they have to pay extra for use of the Kanzenban images? Is that it? I don't see why else they wouldn't use these beautiful new pieces of artwork on their new release to get more customers to buy the books.
On hiatus.

Since the kanzenban covers already exist, isn't it really more work for them to make their own? I think it really must be some royalty-type thing with the kanzenban covers...oh well.

(For the record, what is going one with Yu Yu Hakusho?)

I thought that too, but Viz is just a child company of Shueisha.

It used to come out several times a year but its been slowed to a crawl.
Only two volumes of YYH came out last year. Once in May and then in October.

Its because they're still running it in their Viz Shonen Jump with only one or two chapters per issue. If they'd take it out of the magazine they could probably finish it up at a normal speed.
On hiatus.

I don't understand why Viz doesn't have uncut versions of their manga for sale online.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Because the company is run by Mungo Men.

Also, to be completely redundant, I pronounce these covers shit. I could pencil some better covers with my left foot. Also, ink, color, and print them with utencils clenched with my buttocks. Good day.

lol It's because they're targeting them towards kids. If Viz handled the TV series, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to name someone worse than FUNimation :p

..Yeah

Because it's not like Viz released uncut bilingual Naruto dvds from the start.

..Oh wait, they did.

Not to mention that their dubs for both Bleach and Naruto like them or loathe them, are far closer to the original than Funimation's DB/Z/GT dubs ever were.

Don't forget Ranma and Inuyasha. And the Maisson Ikkoku manga showed 2 people doing it.

But guns get turned into lasers and we get Vegerot in the DB manga.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

Guns becoming lasers: The epitome of retardedness.
Vegerot: Makes perfect sense. A compromise is completely unavoidable in this case, and I'd say Viz's solution was the best one. At least it's better than "Kakarot plus Vegeta, THAT MEANS I'M VEJITO!!!!" Seriously FUNi, what the hell?

What lasers in DB? They were shooting bullets. In that one DBZ volume, it was only that one volume as the next one was back to bullets. (By the way is anyone else confused by censoring guns into laser blasters? Lasers blasters are usually deadlier than bullets unless they're concussive blasts with stun/kill settings).

But yeah, it's only on the Jump Line and Zatch Bell they have censoring. Everything else is whatever.

Here's what it says on Wikipedia:
By 2005, Viz had published the entire manga series in English-language unedited as "Dragon Ball" and "Dragon Ball Z" to a North American audience and re-released volumes one through three.
So it says that they were unedited. And yet right below it, it has a big bold caption that says Censorship.

Here's what they did:
* Mr. Popo's lips and other dark-skinned characters were edited because of complaints made by Carole Boston Weatherford.
* Middle fingers were edited into fists.

In 2006, Viz began releasing a second, A-rated (All Ages) edition of the series sans some nudity and profanity.

* The name Mr. Satan was edited "Hercul e".
* Firearms were edited into "laser blasters",[10][11] though a pistol-armed robber was able to shoot a character without being censored.[12]
* Alcohol, drugs and sexual innuendo were edited.
The question I have is what drugs?!

That's a very good point, I don't remember anyone lighting up a blunt before launching a KI beam.

Some people smoked cigarettes, and Kamesennin smoked a pipe at least once. I don't know what else they could mean by drugs, since it's not like Kuririn regularly snorts coke or anything.

But it's also Wikipedia, and they're frequently full of crap.

I bet they will re-releasing everything uncut just for a few more dollars.

And they'd get those few more dollars too. Because not only would I get them, but so would a lot of people.

Just like what FUNimation did. They milked their series for everything it was worth. Then a few later after they stopped releasing DVDs, they came up with a gimmick to get people to buy even more of their stuff. In order to own everything on DVD, people would HAVE to buy their Season sets, so now they're just milking this for everything it's worth. Same with Viz. Anyone who WOULD buy that Manga already bought it, and now it's time to change up their game, twist things around and get even more sales on something "new".
