Was it ever stated anywhere that the Oozaru gave a 10x increase in power?

I think Vegeta stated it when he changed on Earth. Anyone got the manga to check?

It was indeed stated by Vegeta when he transformed on Earth that a Saiyan in Oozaru form had 10x the battle power of when they were in human form. However, Viz changed this line to something else in their translation. It was part of their little stab at Funi's original dub, which implied that Vegeta was the one who killed Grandpa Gohan. The original dialougue went something like this:

Goku: A giant monkey monster!

Vegeta: Ha! A Saiyan in Oozaru is 10x as strong!

While Viz changed it to something like this:

Goku: You killed my grandfather!

Vegeta: Don't make me laugh!

This pisses me off. I want literal translations (from VIZ), or as close to them as possible.

But you're correct.

Hmm, a bit different than what I remember. But it has been a long time since I've read Viz.

For those who can't read Japanese, the original says:

[right balloon]: I'll tell you something good...

[left balloon]: With a Saiyan that has become Oozaru, their battle power becomes ten times what is was as a human!!!!

And Goku's father is the brilliant scientist who have invented that transformation !

Well, i think the big ape's multiply his power ten times then they are in the normal form ...
In the italian TV serie/comic says the same thing !

And in the videogames says that too...

It's also cool to note how they (VIZ) messed with the weight of Goku's clothing at the 23rd Tenka'ichi Budokai.

Goku says each of his boots weigh 20 kg a piece if I understand these panels correctly. And Tenshinhan totals all the extra weight to be above 100 kg. That's ~44 and ~220+ pounds, respectively.

VIZ simply drops the extra amount down to 40 pounds per boot and over 200 pounds of extra weight.

There are several errors and changes made in the Viz translations, in Dragon Ball volume 1, there's actually spelling error of an English word.

I also think it was stated in the Daizenshuu somewhere that an Oozaru's ki is 10X the Saiyan's base, I could be wrong though...

It's stated in a couple of places. The Saiyan racial characteristics guide in Daizenshuu 4, the manga summary in Daizenshuu 2, the battle power chart in Daizenshuu 7, and probably other places as well.

A lot of people say that if Oozaru makes their battle power 10x, and Super Saiyan makes it 50x (stated in Daizenshuu 7 but not the series), than Golden Oozaru must make it 500x. Logical, but then Dragon Ball isn't always logical.

Isn't Goden Oozaru just accessing the Super Saiyan state as an Oozaru? I actually wish that some of the saiyans had kept their tails in Z so that Oozaru could have been used more and possibly have some Super Saitan Oozarus that were done by Toriyama.

Man, there's so much stuff that I wish he would have continued to use throughout much of the series.

Eh, I don't think that would've worked. The tail's too big of a weak point, especially since the Androids all would have known "cut off tail = no giant monkey" from Gero's spybug.

Plus, the Moon's gone.

They could have learned how to create power balls. It still would been a couple of cool episodes of giant ape fighting until their tails were cut.

Maybe if Piccolo hadn't been killed so early he could have used his giant form against a giant ape.

It wouldn't really help all that much, since unlike the Oozaru transformation, the "Kyodaika" doesn't actually seem to increase Pikkoro's battle power whatsoever, just increases his size to the point that he can use it as a drastic advantage.
