I'm glad to hear that they at least considered Bulma having blue hair. I still say that it would have been much better if they had used blue hair, but I understand how it would have looked pretty silly and that the producers understand that most of the people who will see this movie are not big bad Dragonball fans like us.

It's nice to hear that they are also spending lots of time and effort to make Chatwin a good orange Kame gi, I just hope it all pays off. I was also surprised to hear that Chatwin even decided to do some working out in order to bulk up his character. That's good, because it will give him a head start on getting the body he will need to play Goku when he becomes a Super Saiya-jin, unless if they use the same technique that was used in the movie 300 and add of of SSj Goku's muscles with CGI, I would prefer that!

I have also read rumors that they will combine Karin and Popo into a single character for this movie. I haven't heard any official information about them even being in this movie but if they are than I wouldn't be surprised at all if they combined those two characters.

If you're referring to the rumors about who Ernie Hudson would be playing, it's since been revealed that he's playing Mutaito.

I'm pretty sure those were his real muscles.

No, I was referring to a separate topic I read a while ago somewhere else but just remembered, it was on which characters will be completely CGI and somewhere stated that there was a rumor that Karin and Popo will be combined. I haven't heard anything about that since then so it is probably just a rumor, but one that does make sense.

Why would they combine God and his servant?

If they're going to include Kami, and he's not Namekian..well they're just plain stupid.

MUTAITO is in this movie?! My interest in this movie has increased somewhat substantially. Very intriguing how the kept that in (but not Tenshinhan or Kuririn).

I wonder if Mutaito will be alive in this movie?, or will he just feature in flashbacks.

Based on the fact that they seem to have kept every other thing about Mutaito true to the manga I assume they will also include the part where he dies containing Piccolo the first time and show it as a flashback.

That makes me wonder, was there ever any hostility between Muten Roshi and Piccolo Jr. based on the fact that Piccolo's father caused the death of Roshi's master and training partners, because it seems like something that would be there but I don't ever remember seeing it.

Kami is more like God than those two. Combining Popo and Karin is more like combining God's servant and a magic cat.

I think it's because Piccolo Daimao was an evil jackass.

If I remember correctly Muten is usually just uneasy and frightened around Junior, they really don't have enough interaction with one another to work through their issues.

Mutaito was a key part of the Piccolo Daimaoh Saga. As Mutenroshi's master, and the original sealer of Piccolo, flashbacks with him in it will enrich the movie. Although it surprises me that he made it into the movie, I very glad they kept him.

I'm not sure why his name is Mutaito when Hudson is black...

The same reason why a white guy is named Son Goku.

Booyah! I loved Ernie Hudson in Ghostbusters. Seeing his Mutaito will definitely be interesting.

Hands down one of the coolest scenes in the whole damn series and proof positive that anime filler can sometimes be totally fucking kickass while actually supplementing information already given in the manga.

We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

That was amazing. I haven't seen that part in the anime (I only have the last three of Funi's DB sets, so I don't have the early Piccolo stuff), but the Daimao arc is possibly my favorite part of the manga, so I really liked seeing more of the back story for that. The scenes of Piccolo's spawn attacking that city remind me of Devilman for some reason.

:D

*Off-topic rant*

This is why I always tell people to give original DB a chance, and to check out the full series from start to finish if possible. IMO DB should be required viewing for all newbies before going into Z.

The two shows aren't anywhere near as disconnected as so many people seem inexplicably convinced they are (hell, it's all part of the same damn manga at the end of the day), and the way the overall style gets by the 23rd Budokai makes it seamlessly transition into the Saiya-jin arc of Z, to the point where (if it weren't for a sudden shift where the pacing goes from snappy to almost glacial) Z epsiode 1 may as well be DB episode 154.

Muten Roshi, Tenshinhan, and Piccolo in particular are all especially given so much more depth and dimension by the time one gets to Z, and all the deaths in the Saiya-jin saga have way more of an impact.

Sucks ass that FUNi had to senselessly go and discontinue their (fucking phenomenal) Dragon Ball DVD sets. I'm so glad I got 'em all when I had the chance, but judging by what I hear from a lot of folks on this board, evidently I'm one of the lucky few.

Fortunately, the MovieStop near me has about a half-dozen, which I'm steadily picking up. But if we're lucky, FUNi will put out Seasons for it once they've finished with Z and GT; hopefully in fullscreen like GT seems to be, and maybe even finally including those first 13 episodes... somehow.

I couldn't agree more.

And just so everyone knows,
Madman still has both of their Dragonball complete box sets in stock, these are collections of all the two disc sets, uncut and bilingual, including the first 13 episodes.

Box 1

Box 2

These are $99 AUD a pop, and I encourage anyone who's interested in DB to snap them up, I couldn't be happier with mine.

They accept a variety of payments, though your easiest bet would be credit card, anyway anyone who's thinking about picking them up, should do so quickly, as it's only a matter of time until they start marching to FUNimation's season set tune.
