I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Then why would they put the GT series in Fullscreen?

That would indeed be a very sound theory... however someone in another thread (can't recall which one) had posted a fullscreen DVD screencap of an Uub shot featured in the trailer for comparison... and the shots matched up exactly in terms of what was visible at the top and bottom of the screen.

So unless the trailer feeds us lies, it would appear that we be getting fullscreen for the new GT sets.
I was at the Funi booth at AX, and they indeed had a widescreen TV.

I was thinking you meant them being consistent through the whole series. I see where you're getting at, though.(It's pretty hard not to. )

I know that the GT boxset is supposed to come out in September, but I haven't seen any online retailers have it up for pre-order. Is its release date still in September or did FUNi cancel/change it?

Good thing they used the most popular part of the series as a guinea pig for how they'd go about releasing GT! It totally doesn't make me want to just go buy Avatar DVDs instead.

Yeah, take what I said and dumb it down a bit.
Oops. Didn't see your post. But hey, thanks for the attitude. Real helpful.

These GT boxes sound good, what with the probable English dub/Japanese BGM combo. Now my only gripe with it is that the dvds aren't in single cases. I hate the type of boxes the Funi season sets come in.

Well, even before this whole season set thing, GT was the only series to have a single consistent, competent release, so it makes a perverse kind of sense for that trend to continue.

Not really if you count the "lost episodes". This led to the english recap for Ep. 17 to be replaced with a different recap that recapped FUNi's "special introduction" instead.

Has any country other than Japan and Italy perfectly released any of the series?

Funi's previous release of DBGT was nearly flawless. It's only flaws comparable to the Dragonbox GT are the openings and endings, if I remember correctly. But having English subtitles made up for some of that, to me at least.

The UUEs lacked eye-catches (I believe), proper ending-theme/credits (I think the opening-theme was in tact), and below average quality video.

Does UUE stand for Ultimate Uncut Edition? Because those had the eye-catches (I have the first 6 of the DVDs) and the openings and endings were creditless. The Opening was the wrong one though for ep. 1-21. The English version had alternate angles with the "red" OP and EDs.

Hey I thought I mention. I compared these screenshots with the new clear trailer Tanooki posted. It's correct that it's not in widescreen(trailer at least), but the extra footage on the trailer isn't correct. It just isn't paused at the same time.

Hope you guys understand what I mean.

Why did they decide to stop at episode 32 instead of the full baby saga? Was it just to have two even boxsets?

It works out well. It's and even number of episodes per set and episode 32 is a nice cliffhanger stopping point with Uub and Mr. Buu fusing and ready to face Baby. Leaves ya hungry for more!

Dragon Ball GT: Season One will come later then expected! Since I've been able to pre-order DBZ S6 and the new double feature like a month ago, I allready thought that DBGT S1 would come later. And now it's available for pre-order at Amazon. Release date DBGT S1: November 11th, 2008.

Awesome. There's finally a release date. Took FUNi forever but now it's confirmed. Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Gt-Se ... 857&sr=1-1
Strangely Amazon lists it as a 3-piece.

Also, Amazon has season 7 up for pre-order: http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Z-Sea ... sr=1-2
This release is listed as a 6-piece.
