So it took Gohan, Bulma, and Krillin 34 days to get to Namek on Kami's old ship. And it took Goku 6 days to get to Namek on the modified-space-pod/Capsule Corp. space ship. How long did it take Goku to defeat Freeza and the planet to explode?

Also, did anybody else notice how they never seemed to sleep for those 6 days waiting for Goku. They were always on the move and doing something. 144 hours is a long time to go with no sleep, especially while they were getting the snot beaten out of them constantly.

Well it never gets dark on Namek since it has three(?) suns. They could have slept in-between the fighting. They did go back to their "base" pretty often and Bulma had set up a temporary house inside a cave.

Agreed.

This special was a very unique look into what might have been if Dragonball was animation in this century. Very interesting.

A little more than "5 minutes" XD
Maybe an hour? When you think about it it's not like the battle lasted too long.

Bulma slept and had that weird dream about Vegeta. Vegeta slept while Goku was recovering in Freeza's ship. I didn't see Gohan or Krillin sleeping, though. But that's after Goku arrived, I don't know about before that.

The coolest thing about watching them side by side is how dead-on they are in timing and in how they are drawn. It almost looks like it was traced over the original opening a little.

I love what they did with the opening, I was surprised at how well it worked too.

Hehe, I think the Gohan age discussion wasn't needed, I wasn't referring to the group shot comparison where he's shown as 9 there, I was referring to the comparison shots of when the kids are running on Shenlong, that's where Gohan has his 4 year old look, I already know about Gohan's ages and what they really are(obviously since I ranted everywhere I see someone call Cell Saga's Gohan "Teen").

Not to take anything away from Tanooki Kuribo did, because I think he did a fabulous job, but he's not the only who had this idea. I finally had some time to go through the new opening this afternoon and make a little comparison myself. I've put it up over on Kanzentai, so please check it out and let me know what you think. The original "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" opening widescreen animation I used is from the Dragon Box The Movies.

While we are on the subject of Kanzentai, Hujio you might want to amend the special synopsis 'cause it is sort of innaccurate. I think the blogger you translated from took a few liberties in his summary.

Also regarding Kanzentai, I think the cast file feels incomplete without the credits from the special. :P

When did you last look at it? Herms and I went through it a little bit the other night. Though we might have to give it a good re-read sometime.

I had planned on updating that, but obviously haven't gotten around to it. I'll be sure to do it when I get back home after Thanksgiving with the family this weekend.

A little before last night, I guess.

Oh that's awesome. X3

While I generally like the newer opening; I miss the sketchy lines and the old-school way they used to animate ki. (In the Kuririn and Tenshinhan scenes especially).

Any word of if the new ED, "Orange Hero", has additional new animation with it? I'd love it if the ED gave some closure to what happened post-buffet.
On hiatus.

No, not at all.
because I think he did a fabulous job
Thanks.
but he's not the only who had this idea.
Man, I was waiting for someone to do this before I did mine. When no one was comming up with anything I just decided to do it myself.

Wow. Awesome!

I haven't heard or seen anything about it yet. Jealkb hasn't even mentioned anything about realeasing a single or posted any lyrics for the song. It all seems pretty hush hush for now and we'll probably just have to wait for the DVD release to find out any more information. Though, as soon as I get the DVD, I'll let you know. I'm just hoping we'll get a whole new ending animation, which seems pretty plausible considering they're using a new theme.

Is it just me, or should Vegeta NOT have the armor on in the last shot...

Small nitpick, but since everyone else looks Buu-era in that shot (or, I guess, post-Buu), Vegeta sticks out. Kuririn and Yamcha even have era-apropriate looks, even though they were retired and not sporting gi's by the end of the series. Vegeta should totally just be rockin' the jumpsuit.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

Everyone in the last shot is wearing the clothes they have on in the special itself (with the exception of Gohan).

Sometimes, I tweet things
We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

I hate to admit it, but as I was watching the new intro for the first time, it's actually one of the first thoughts that popped into my head. "Hey, I can do a comparison for the site. Sweet." I guess that means I've been doing this way too long. I would have done it earlier, but I didn't have the time until the other afternoon. And after you posted yours, I wasn't in too much of a hurry to get it done.
