I have to agree that it doesn't feel like the Dragonball I know so far, but I'm open minded that I might like this take on Dragonball.

Besides some of the obvious stuff it really doesn't look like Dragon Ball and I can get past that I guess but every time I try and get interested in this movie I can't seem to because I visit forums with some of the most morbid and depressing people ever. It's like all people do these days is rip stuff apart and criticize it. You can't even enjoy stuff anymore!
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

If we're all here for a reason then I'm just visiting.

If it's held in your heart then you can't let go.

One question: Why are two topics about the trailer open?

The actors and staff themselves.

There's a conflict of interest there. That coupled with the fact that there's probably a lot of work left to be done leads me to believe they're lying.

I would love for this film to be great, I'd love to enjoy it - but I have "high" standards for films, apparently.

You want to enjoy a comic book movie? Try Hellboy, or Hellboy 2, or Iron Man, or Sin City (I wasn't big on it, but it wasn't bad).

From the trailer itself, the main thing that sticks out as bad to me is Chatwin's Goku: he just seems so bored and unenthusiasic. Goku is a spunky energetic guy, for pete's sake. Granted, it's only a couple lines, but still, it was noticable to me regardless.

Other than that, there wasn't enough footage, dialogue, plot given away to judge the whole film by.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

James Marsters is the only one who resembles his character at all. He would knock it out of the park in a real Dragonball movie. Everything else looks terrible.

They're not lying, they're actors. So they're acting.
More specifically, they're promoting, where any semblance of an honest opinion is thrown out the window.

Liking the Nyoibou. :D
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I have a few things to add.

First, isn't it roshi who gives the explanation of the dragonballs in the series before we meet Kami? I thought so but I am not going to check.

Second, I recall Baba definitely saying that Goku was going to be the world savior. And everyone was like, what? So the idea of Goku being the chosen one isn't that far off.

Also, if that building on that Island in the middle of that city is Kame House, then I have to say, that is an interesting take on it, and I don't disapprove.

Also, again, I watched the Trailer again, and i was staring at Chatwin's face during the "cool" segment, and it's weird, but he looks more excited then the way he sounds, it's hard to explain.

Oi, I already made the Boba Fett joke! :P

I find it kinda weird how Piccolo starts off kinda British - "With this Dragon Ball, I take my vengeance..." - and ends up American - "... upon the Earth.".

Other than that Piccolo looks FTWnage.

I thought it was a neat take, too. It's like this little colonial-like town house (and we've seen the inside, and it's just as rustic) from ages ago, the rest around it have since been replaced by some sort of bay, which an entire city has been built up around... Yet this tiny, antique little house still sits out there all alone.

Yeah, it was him.

It kind of reminds me of Enies Lobby from One Piece.

I hate to go off topic, but just so you know, Sin City is the best comic to screen adaptation ever. It is practically panel by panel to frame by frame accurate, or at least as best as they could do. If you didn't like it then that's personal preference, cause you can not say it deviated from the source, cause if it did, it was incredibly minor.

I just remembered something that doesn't sit well with me. It's the bit with Piccolo and how well the actor knows the character's story as a pure evil bad guy times a billion. Piccolo was never a good guy in Dragonball and only became a somewhat willing co-operator in DBZ. How can anyone who has read the manga or seen the anime, assume that this is what the character is like? How could you have a big bad be a good guy previously? He has to be SUPER EVIL previously so we can understand how utterly dire it is that he be put down. If he was a tragic villian type then why is it that this is not in the manga? It all smacks of some kind of personal gnosis on the actor's part or some kind of misunderstanding of character modus operendi. Let's hope that despite the bad interpretation that this will not be so bad in a never gonna watch it again kind of way.

Oh, so "Piccolo will retain his physical appearance from the anime", will he? Oh, yes, he is indeed green now, but where's his antennae?!?!?!

...where are you getting this idea? From the trailer, all I see a vengeful Piccolo that blows up cities.

I think Marsters' was taking about movie Piccolo's back story.
