DragonBall: Uranai & DragonBall Ôgon no Senshi

Post by BlazeGogeta » Tue Mar 16, 2010 11:04 am

The Daizenshuu EX Homepage wrote:Our buddies at Kanzentai picked up on two new DragonBall books that Shueisha has listed for the near-future. The first is DragonBall Uranai, coming out in just a couple weeks on 31 March 2010 for a mere ¥840. We know absolutely nothing about it yet, and no online retailers seem to have a listing for it. The other book, DragonBall Ôgon no Senshi ("DragonBall: The Golden Warrior"), is specifically noted as an "Anime Illustration Collection" and will drop on 16 April 2010 for ¥1200; Amazon Japan actually has a listing up for that one already.

So we have an as-of-yet-unidentified-but-cheap book in a couple weeks, and a hopefully-new art book in little while after that.
Thoughts? Speculation? I'm wondering if "Ogon no Senshi" will be a Super Saiya-jin book. And after hearing the podcast, I'm scared about Uranai :P.

I'd love a new artbook. Not one with just redrawn old artwork like the recent calendars, but really new artwork!
Ya know what I mean?

I don't know much about these Japanese books, excepting the Daizenshuu, but has there been any sort of collection that brings all the tribute artwork in the kanzenban together? I could probably check for myself on Kanzentai, but I'm in class and my lecturer is already on my back.

Need to check out the podcast too, might just order myself a copy of one of these bad boys if they sound good enough.

DragonBall Landmark reprinted 10 of the original 17 tribute artwork pamphlets included in the first edition Kanzenban releases. Other than that, they're not reprinted anywhere else.

And just as an update to what I originally posted on Kanzentai, I did find one online retailer that is finally listing the DragonBall Uranai book. The site BK1 is listing the book with the title "ドラゴンボールキャラクター占い2010" (DragonBall Character Fortunetelling 2010), which is what I was afraid of. In fact, now that I search using this new title, it seems that most other retailers are listing the book under this new title as well.

There was actually a somewhat official DragonBall Character Fortunetelling released online back in April 2004 by OCN (Open Computer Network). Feel free to check it out here. You simply enter your birth date (YYYY/MM/DD), hit the submit button, and it will tell you what character you are. The character's page will give you a rundown of the character's personalities and traits. It also provides a bunch of references to the Kanzenban for more information about the character, which were released right around the same time this thing was released.

Apparently I'm Tenshinhan!

Of course, there are other websites out there made by fans that do the same thing. So I'm afraid that's all this book is going to be, unfortunately. But at least we're also getting an illustration collection book, right?

Anyway, this just occurred to me. But what if the illustration collection book is a reprinting of all of the gorgeous artwork exclusive to the Daizenshuu, without the text all over them?! I think I'd cream myself!

I should note that the character results say "Anata wa [character's name]-taipu desu", or in my case, "You're a Tenshinhan-type". So it isn't exactly saying you're that particular character, just that you're like them.

And before we get too far off-topic, I'll repeat what I mentioned earlier:

I would honestly rather see brand new artwork, but clean images of old ones are fun as well.

There has been so much new art in the past 10 years, they really needed a updated image book. I hope it has some calandar art and some of the Dragon Box singles art.

I hope these books will contain some new art work rather than old recycled ones.
