I'm looking back of VegettoEX and Herms' posts and I'm not seeing all of my post in theirs. Okay yes, there are bits that I repeated from their posts. Okay, yes I should've read through the previous replies before posting mine, but I just felt that I needed to give my own, simplified answer to the question.Hujio wrote:I don't mean to be an ass, but you didn't add anything to the discussion. The only thing you really said that was different from anyone else was mentioning "Cyui and Zarbon". I can go back and read both VegettoEX and Herms' posts, and get everything and a little more than what you posted. Sorry, it really does just look like you copied everything. If you know it all on your own, that's great, but you don't have to wave your hands saying, "Look at me, I know it too!" It's one thing if you have something to add to the discussion, but you didn't.

Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:The spelling of Gyarikku in the attack isn't the same as the actual katakana spelling of Garlic, because it's a pun on the actual name like Cyui and Zarbon.
Herms wrote:It probably is a pun on "garlic", but the kana spelling isn't identical (unlike with "Garlic Jr"):
Source Spelling: ガーリック/gaarikku
Name Spelling: ギャリック砲 /Gyarikku-Hou
Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:"Ho" roughly translates to cannon, so translation of Gyarikku-Ho would be something along the lines of Garick Cannon or Galick Cannon.
VegettoEX wrote:...if it ends in the same "ho" as the "Kikô-hô" (砲), it's "cannon" or "gun"...
VegettoEX wrote:So... uhh... "Garlic Gun"...? Not much to "translate" with this one.
Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:And Krillin's attack, the Kakusan Kiko-Ha translates to Scattering Ki/Energy Blast Wave.
VegettoEX wrote:...I'm pretty sure that's the "Kakusan Kikô-Ha" (recalling from memory, so someone correct me if I'm wrong). It's... oh, I dunno... roughly something like "Scattering Energy Wave"...?
...so yeah... I guess my biggest problem with it was that you just jumped in and answered the original questions as if no one else had even said a damn thing about it.Herms wrote:Yeah, that's one of its names, and means "scattering Qigong (ki manipulation) wave".

Yeah, I should've read the previous posts more carefully before making my post and I regret actually making the post, but what's done is done.Hujio wrote: ...so yeah... But still looking back now, VegettoEX seemed somewhat unsure in his post and said that Gyarikku was the way of writting garlic in katakana, which is false.
And both Herms and I said that Gyarikku wasn't how you write garlic in katakana and that's probably what made me seem like a copycat, but I actually gave possible translations for Gyarikku-Ho which is what the question was asking.
And for the record, my translation of Krillin's attack, the Kakusan Kiko-Ha is different to both VegettoEX's and Herms'.

And Herms clarified that before you.But still looking back now, VegettoEX seemed somewhat unsure in his post and said that Gyarikku was the way of writting garlic in katakana, which is false.
As I just mentioned, Herms explained the 'garlic' romanization before your post. And your translations added nothing new to the conversation. And both Herms and I said that Gyarikku wasn't how you write garlic in katakana and that's probably what made me seem like a copycat, but I actually gave possible translations for Gyarikku-Ho which is what the question was asking.
If by 'different' you mean, 'more awkward' and 'less accurate', then yes, it was different. And for the record, my translation of Krillin's attack, the Kakusan Kiko-Ha is different to both VegettoEX's and Herms'.
I'm not trying to be mean here, but I'm getting the same feeling as Hujio here - you seem really interested in saying something, anything. You seem to be interested in translations and such (you've been involved in several threads on the topic), but you're either not very knowledgeable and are adding nothing to the conversation, or you're deliberately regurgitating information to look smart.
The bottom line is this, don't post to a thread if it adds nothing to the conversation. If what you're going to post has already been covered, then there's no reason to post it. Can you elaborate on someone else's post? Great, post that. Can you offer a different opinion on someone else's methodology? Post that.
(é) Yeah, I'm famous. Super famous. I start things.

Re: Gyarikku-Ho Translation & Kuririn's blast
I am sorry for posting in a thread where the question (for the most part) had been answered. I should've read the previous posts more carefully before actually posting myself. However, I just want you guys to know that I am not trying to draw attention to myself nor I am I trying to make myself seem smart.
And above all, I am most certainly am not a copycat.

Since this thread isn't that old yet, I'd like to add that the Finnish manga calls it the "Gyarlic Torpedo", in case anyone cares. I guess it further proves that the "Gyarikku" is not just garlic but kind of a pun of it as already stated.
I'm here to kick artificial humans and drink cups of tea. And I'm all out of both.
