As for reception sections, I feel it might be interesting to see some views from reputable anime websites that aren't focused on Dragon Ball specifically, similar to Jeff's perspective on the DaizEX podcast's Manga Review of Awesomeness. That might be more of a personal curiosity than something that should be included on the wiki, though.

I believe Herms recently outright said the Viz translation was "accurate", so I feel Viz is the better option.

I think any time we need to reference text we should reference the original text. And translations should be done first-hand.

On that note, will the original Japanese text (and romanization?) be presented alongside these quotes? Similar to what both sites do with the episode titles, that is.

That's what we like to do on the site here whenever we can. I feel that it presents every single last bit of information that is necessary for the reader to have it available if they want to dig deeper or further-validate on their own.JulieYBM wrote:On that note, will the original Japanese text (and romanization?) be presented alongside these quotes? Well, he said it was accurate enough for a casual readthrough. I doubt he'd agree it's accurate enough for "scholarly resource" on the subject. Viz does have some crazy crap in there, there's no denying that. When going for an encyclopedic tone, always go for the source material.ThunderPX wrote:I believe Herms recently outright said the Viz translation was "accurate", so I feel Viz is the better option.
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

Yeah, I tend to say that it's OK for all general purposes, but I'd say this project will need to be more exact than that.Gaffer Tape wrote:Well, he said it was accurate enough for a casual readthrough. Are we going to include English voice actors? I ask because there's so many that it becomes difficult to keep track of, and I don't particularly trust Dragon Ball Wikia...

I don't see why we couldn't put aside a small section listing the names of all the different actors (in every dub we can find the information for) who have done each character, starting with the original Japanese. We could even list the live action actors.

I think we should, followed by brackets containing what dub they played in.linkdude20002001 wrote:Are we going to include English voice actors? I ask because there's so many that it becomes difficult to keep track of, and I don't particularly trust Dragon Ball Wikia...

Re: Daizenshuu EX DB wiki...again
For simplicity, in the main infobox at the top of the page, we can just list the Japanese voice actor(s). Further down the page (perhaps near the bottom after the character's biographical info?), we have a section with a table of sorts for all voice actors, including say "English (Ocean)", "English (Funimation), "English (Blue Water)" and whatever other English dubs. Along with other languages of course. We should include everything we can, simply because anything less would allow it to be less than the best, which is what this project should be.

Re: Daizenshuu EX DB wiki...again
I think a better option would be to have a page for all the different dubs, detailing what they did, how/when/where it was aired, released, etc, as well as voice and production casts. There as dozens of dubs, trying to fit voice cast info on each character page would be difficult or ugly.

Re: Daizenshuu EX DB wiki...again
Once again, bringing up the Bulbapedia comparison... Ash Ketchum, beyond the bio of stuff he's done, every single Pokémon he's ever owned and list of leagues he has participated in, there's a box with a buttload of foreign voice actors, with a "Show/Hide" button. Surely a similar thing could be achieved?desirecampbell wrote:I think a better option would be to have a page for all the different dubs, detailing what they did, how/when/where it was aired, released, etc, as well as voice and production casts. Although I also agree with having a page for all the different dubs as we could honestly compile some really interesting stuff all working together.

The irony is so delicious I have decided to opened a restaurant with only this written in the menu.AB Group - Dragon Ball Wiki wrote:The dub is notorious among fans for the script and the changing of character's names
Anyway, I'd actually like to see if there's a way to investigate who starred in the AB Group English dub, maybe if we ask nice enough we can get an answer or at least a point in the right direction.

Well I'm certain the actors are French. I think the clip of AB Groupe's English dub of DB Movie Three was taken down from YouTube, but Lunch's voice actor sounded just like Sissi from the English dub of Code Lyoko (which was dubbed in France). I already asked Moonscoop if they were the ones who dubbed them, but the answer was no. Still, I'm certain about the actress for Lunch/Sissi (Jodi/Jodie Forrest).

I've been reading the thread about DB Wikia. I really really want to get this project off the ground. Is there anything I can do to help out? Donation? Design? What are we waiting for, exactly?
I think SilverPlaque will be a good contributor to the Wiki. He's pretty good at copying information down. Not so much at citations, but those can be added.

Basically for July to be over at this point mehopes. I've got a lot to hash out with Hujio that the two of us just haven't had the time to sit and hash out, and we've got an Otakon panel that's going to be a focus until the end of the month, and then Julian's getting married...Innagadadavida wrote:What are we waiting for, exactly?
