Yes, but you'll probably see even more people using phrases like "Broly fags" and stuff like that. There are idiots for every cause, and I find more disdain for the people who assume that just because someone likes Broly, they are a not a fan of Dragon Ball, rather a fan of the wrestlemania, grunting males, etc side that Funimaton sells. Because that is something I see a lot more than these over the top Broly fans.SuperForteX wrote:Ok, take a clip of Broly from one of the Sparking games where he's fighting someone like SSj3 Goku, and post it on YouTube. Make the title something along the lines of "What would happen if Broly fought SSj3 Goku" (Of course, make sure Broly wins, utterly demolishing whoever he's fighting.)VegettoEX wrote:I'm not denying the existence of casual fans with sketchy memories. Come back in about 2 or 3 months and read the comments. Make sure you put Broly in the tags for the video.
You'll see them.

If you were on DA you would see them, one of them is pretty popular but I don't wanna mention her name here. I'm on there but I tend to stay in the background away from the craziness. >.>VegettoEX wrote:I'm not denying the existence of casual fans with sketchy memories. go have fun
I have also never really ran across "the CRAZAY" Broli fans in my travels. Ever.
The closest I can get is me making fun of Broli movies by making pretend movie covers.

What I was saying before though, is that most of the "casual fans" out there are big Broly fans. Maybe not "rabid" fans, but certainly the rabid ones do exist. Just look at the precious "Broly: His power is maximum" picture drawn by a preschooler. A lot of the casual fans out there at least have the impression that Broly is one of the strongest characters in the show. Apparently, this is a mindset that also exsits in the Japanese culture, since they made Hatchiyak look impressive by having Goku say "he may be as strong as Broly!"

Re: Who came first?
Well they used that because it basically made the most sense at the time, since the movies were part of the game's "canon," and Broly was one of the most recent villains to appear, and his power was far above the characters at that point, so it was basically just their way of saying "he's way stronger than we are!"Apparently, this is a mindset that also exsits in the Japanese culture, since they made Hatchiyak look impressive by having Goku say "he may be as strong as Broly!"

Are Daizex Users too snobbish to laugh at "crazy yaoi fangirls" that provide strong emotions for everyone not warned to not get too close? They represent similar level of carrying about canon and common sense as mythical "Broli Fans" and they can be found by anyone who wants it or not. But would you be able to share this freaks with fans of all other anime series?

Aren't you doing the same thing towards FUNimation fans now? So now you see that you couldn't ride on the Kintoun either.Kingdom Heartless wrote:I find more disdain for the people who assume that just because someone likes Broly, they are a not a fan of Dragon Ball, rather a fan of the wrestlemania, grunting males, etc side that Funimaton sells

No one in this thread has commented on the FUNimation dub just Broli and his apparently mythical overboard fans.

He did... and I quoted it. He seemed to imply that what FUNimation put out "isn't Dragon Ball, it's just grunting males and Wrestlemania."laserkid wrote:O.O

Re: Who came first?
Anyone remember that one guy from awhile back who kept demanding that people translate every single last daizenshuu scan relating to Broli? Even ones that had already been translating for him, and just said stuff like "Broli is a really cool guy" and whatnot? So we've had at least one such Broli fan here, at any rate.

Ah, yes. Lucas Abner. I suppose by now he's learned to read the scans by himself.

A problem, of course, that would be solved if we had full page-by-page scanlsations of the Daizenshuu. Um, why hasn't anyone done this yet?

Re: Who came first?
It wasn't really intended as a jab towards the Funimation dub... it was more talking about the mindset that many have about dub fans who like Broly.
But to a degree, yes, I did mean that Funimation sells Dragon Ball in a different way than the original Japanese version did. But I wasn't trying to be negative about it, only about the pretense that "dub fan + Broly fan= muscular super dude loving non-fans."
Basically, it was intended as a reference to the association between Broly fans and dub fans.

Ah, gotcha'. Well I can understand the simile. Also, when I made that rebuttal I was feeling really defensive at the time. Sorry.

Re: Who came first?
Mostly these rare creatures are relatively new to the series being introduced usually via the video games. Not to mention the hype surrounding "the" legendary Super Saiyajin by Vegeta and Freeza during the Namek saga sure does hype up the prophecy that Broly is supposed to represent in Movie 8. I admit I am somewhat a fan of the big lug but even back when I was first made known of his existence and saw Movies 8 and 10, I never thought for a moment he was the strongest character in the series. As for the claim that Brolly's conception predated Trunk's . . . heck that's new to me! I have heard some wild stuff about Dragonball in the past back in the early days (well for me 1998 - 1999). Yet I have never heard such a ridiculous example of fandumb.VegettoEX wrote:I'm not denying the existence of casual fans with sketchy memories. Re: Who came first?
Well, it's not entirely ridiculous that an anime character was conceived way back before it was actually used. Especially one like Broly. Toei clearly had some ideas they threw around about the Legendary Super Saiyan, from the false Super Saiyan in Movie 4, to the Golden Oozaru they had in filler and went on to include in GT.As for the claim that Brolly's conception predated Trunk's . . . heck that's new to me! The concept that Toei could have thought of the character after seeing Goku transform in the manga isn't completely unfathomable, but at the same time it is completely baseless.

Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!
