References to Dragonball Z in other shows?
And Danny's "Ghost Mode" reminds me a lot of Super Saiyan. Think about it: Super Saiyan hair sometimes looks like it's a white-ish color. The green eyes...do I even need to explain it?
My favorite reference would have to be the Duck Dogers one. It actually has the word "DragonBall" in it.

Even I became a loser when I made one of these...

I agree with Akira on the matter he explicated
Just...
Haven't you ever seen the lettering on the Judo fighters backs during an International contest?

By the way, the videogame Worms has a weapon called "fireball" or whatever. It's actually a Kamehameha.
Just...
...that doesn't really apply to me, does it?!..Akira wrote:Let us, in the future, give each other the benefit of the doubt and understand that some people are truly in the dark about such terms and are innocently believing they are using an abbreviation only.

I just felt. At least, over the above consideration of yours. Because it was me who, after all, came up with that arrangement of letters, but did not have the intention, I repeat, to be insulting, as it was "JAP" for Japan and not "jap" for Japanese.Akira wrote:Please do not feel I was speaking about anyone directly either.

Anybody here watch Homestar Runner? Well, I guess MajinVegetaXV might, since his avatar is the title character, but for those who don't know, it's a web cartoon made by two brothers using Flash animation, and they often parody a LOT of culture. There's a weekly (well, okay, so it isn't updated THAT often) section on the site where Strong Bad answers emails, and one time someone asked him what he'd be like if he was a Japanese cartoon. That sparked an entire spinoff of anime versions of the cast, and every time we see this "anime" Strong Bad (known as "Stinkoman"), there's usually some sort of DBZ reference. For example, in the email already mentioned above, they have a "staff roll" (taken directly from the first 8-bit Zelda game), and one of the pictures accompanying the credits features a beefed-up Stinkoman with Super Saiyan hair in mid-scream.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

Well, one thing's for sure: They didn't try to make it subtle, did they? It's most fun when you spot small references; not see the whole friggin' episode based on it (was it a whole episode?)! They might as well call the show "Yakitateball Z"! The Frieza part was good, though.Phred wrote:The Japan one was funny, I took pictures!
Authors these days don't have any imagination; all they can do is copy the legend of Akira Toriyama. In order for them to stand a chance of becoming even remotely successful, they copy him. Oh well... Not everyone can be Akira Toriyama (with credit to the guys who did filler, too).

Oooooooooooooooooh, "freezer". Damnit, I couldn't understand why there was a guy in a fridge costume. I'm pretty slow.

In Fullmetal Alchemist 2: Curse of the Crimson Elixir, one of the weapons you can transmute is a pole that extends like Nyoibo (though not as far). There is also this special attack that Ed does, called the Rage Attack, which is this yellow ball of energy that he fires like a Kamehameha into the ground, causing stone fists pop up and punch the enemies.

I'm not sure if this qualifies - but Goku can be seen flying on Nimbus during the chorus.

Though it really doesn't, that was still pretty damn funny. Can't believe Mr. Rogers won. XDdesirecampbell wrote:I'm not sure if this qualifies - but Goku can be seen flying on Nimbus during the chorus.

As for the Fullmetal Alchemist stuff, those don't really count. Nyoibo is pretty much from Journey to the West. Quite a few games borrow from that, as Dragon Ball did. Ed's attack really isn't done in a "Kamehame-Ha" style. o_O He claps his hands together in mid-air and brings one hand down to the ground as the alchemic energy is forming in his hand.
It wasn't the whole episode, just one part of it. Though he does stay Super Kuroyanagi until the end of the episode
They were just having fun because he ate Super Toro Aburi bread, which kinda sounds like Super Kuroyanagi.
It's all about the puns, you see. That's why when he eats the Sea Urchin bread he turns into "Super Kuroyanagi 2"

Hehe, this one's easy : Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog started in 1991 as a video game, and if you collected the Chaos Emeralds, you became Super Sonic. Dragonball Z however launched in 1989 until 1996 (anime). So that'll be a good backup for my findings. Super Sonic resembled Super Saiyan Goku very much with spiky hair and golden hair (original [/SARCASM])

I saw on the anime series "Kochikame" the main character, Ryotsu, going Super Saiyan for like 3 seconds or what!
A comic strange scene...
