Are you saying two wrongs make a right? I don''t care what every character in action-fiction does, the authors are still wrong and ignorant or chose to ignore it for whatever reason.=. Doesn't make flawed scenes any more correct just because multiple people do it, lol. Holding one's breath is inane since it operates under the logic you can store more air in limited area in their lungs than what it can take which is just silly. Its like saying you can blow a weeks worth of air in a ziplock bag, its just wrong. It doesn't matter if the ziplock bag had the durability of titanium, you are still not getting any more into it just the same, lol.
Even real life humans can go without breathing, just holding their breath, for several minutes. And you are saying that it would be insane for Goku to do the same for, at most, 10 or 12 minutes. Right, really insane...
Also, Goku is so not like a normal human, he's has things in common with a normal human, just to a much lesser extent. Any normal human would have been now passed out in mere seconds and died on Kami's lookout, that right there shows you Goku and co. are very different from normal humans.
Guess that means that Bulma is a Saiyan or an extraordinary human since she managed to be there, walk there and talk there without visible strain.
Now, Goku in no way needs a similar amount off oxygen, the fact he can clearly fight against Birusu just okay in the upper stratosphere which has 1/1000th at sea level on further proves that
So, if Goku managed to fight Birusu for several minutes underwater, it would be proven that he can breathe underwater? Awesome.
This has always been the case, Goku and co. are more superhuman and conditioned to handle much tougher environment than any normal human could ever hope to achieve such as the room of spirit and time unaided by anything but their ki enhanced bodies.
Which is why its perfectly reasonable to assume that Goku could hold his breath for a period of time beyond human limits. Real life humans can hold their breath for several minutes, so it would only natural for Goku to be able to do it for at least 10 or 12 minutes while fighting. In fact, we have already seen Goku being able to hold his breath for quite some time when he tried to dive in the sea in search for a dragon ball.
Also, I'm completely aware of the fact that Satan, Bulma, Baby Trunks, and Videl survive just fine on Kami's look out, but that's a massive oversight on Toriyama's part and not evidence to the contrary
Oh, ok, it doesn't fit with your view so its a plothole. Anyway, you do realize that we have no idea how high Kami's lookout is and the only thing we know is that the air is thinner there. It might not be high enough for the pressure and temperature to be drastically different.
The stratosphere is not a vacuum or near vacuum, its completely has oxygen in it to draw from, no matter how much reduced or scarce it is compared to sea level. Goku and Bardock are both depicted in the same area in their respective animated features, the stratosphere layer
No... The stratosphere of Earth ends just 50 kms from the Earth surface and on top of the stratosphere we have the mesosphere, the thermophere and the exosphere. The stratosphere is way too low considering Goku's position. He was either in the thermophere or in the exosphere, if he was even still within reach of any of these layers. And even in the stratosphere, only some bacteria live.

Yeah, I thought of that too: unless your lungs can stock a ridiculous amount of air (and then where would it be, since it should amplify them and therefore make your chest go fat-balloon if it doesn't explode), there's no way to have conversations and screams without being able to breathe one way or another. Yet Goku is shown as being able to be little time in the water before needing to go up and catch some air.

So yeah, whatever oxygen they breathe, they seem to be able to receive oxygen in the stratosphere. Now, there are several ways to interpret things (depending on if you take in account Bardack's panel in the manga as-is or see it as an artistic illustration of Bardack protecting planet Vegeta not representing the scene as it really happened).
You can say that Saiyans require only very little oxygen to breathe, which is okay in the stratosphere but not in deep space (Freezer even states Saiyans would not survive in space once the planet is blown up) nor in water (where water itself gets in the way of the breathing process, just like for humans).
Or you can say that Goku has a godly status at this point (which requires you to take Bardack's panel only as an artistic illustration and not as what Freezer remembers as-is), in which his body might produce its own oxygen from inside or emits some sort of "intangible, invisible shield-like bubble-aura" that carried and kept oxygen from Earth. And I'm sure there are other explanations you can come up with.

Again, it depends on what you consider as established proof from what has been shown before, what you consider canon, and how your own logic works.
As far as I'm concerned, Toriyama's "maybe they can breathe into the stratosphere cause they have alien anatomy after all" seems to be the one that wraps everything we've seen together, but each fan is free to choose their explanation.
However, it does seem hard to say that they hold their breath when they talk and scream all along, and that they could physically stock enough oxygen to talk and shout for 15 minutes in a row. Whatever explanation you want, it seems more likely that one way or another, they get an on-going supply of oxygen, the source of which you're free to imagine.

I take the fact that they can talk and scream in space the same way I take sound from spaceships in movies. Technically they can't make sound in space, but since its a much better experience if we can hear them, we let it slide. Same thing for talking in space for Goku. The only way that it could work was if they were actually talking telepathically or just thinking.

For pete's sake why are people so worked up about this? It's anime, lol...
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Because this is a Dragon Ball forum in which we discuss these kind of things. If we stopped discussing these kind of things, there would be much less to talk about in this forum.

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods referred to as a 'major hit' in Toei Animation's fourth quarter 2013 report. I'm not sure I understand the line chart on page seven, though. Surely the budget wasn't that high?

Same thing was said on the Amazon page:
17年ぶりの「ドラゴンボールZ」劇場版、興行収入30億の大ヒット
Very happy with this. I thought their reaction was gonna be more of a "Meh, did what we expected it to do."

I find this annual report fascinating for some reason, even if it is a little confusing. Battle of Gods gets quite a few mentions.

DBZ's still got it. :D

In all likelihood the movie couldn't have cost four million based on reactions to the animation budget, so I really wouldn't be surprised if even taking promotion into account the production committee took home a cool twenty-five million of that gross.

It's because I've found most of these issues have been argued to death, even when I got into the series over a decade ago they were still being discussed.

I mean some I understand but arguing over if people can breathe in space or not...in a fictional manga/animation series which has other such bizzare events or people doing fantastical things or fantastical beings and worlds... it just sounds silly. It reminds me of IMDB when why guy was trying to tell everyone the whole show was someone's dying dream because island's that can heal wounds, move through time etc are unrealistic when the show is sci-fi somewhat to begin with.

ERhm, the movie, of course >_> Sorry about that, but yeah... I want a blu-ray, but not sure which one (if all are even still available).

New (alternate?) mock-up artwork for the limited edition set:

Some replacing base with ssjg, and a closer-to-final-concept(?) for the wall figure.

Is that supposed to be a CG mock up if Super Saiyan God or a toy/figure?

I think it's a mock up of the figure. All of it looks like mock-ups to me actually, even though the art being used changed somewhat. I feel like this still isn't the final look, not until they replace what's there with a photo of the set, anyway.
