>Budokai 3 comes the closest,
No it doesn't. Infinite world and Shin Budokai Another Road are far superior to Budokai 3 in the gameplay department
I like Budokai 3, the fighting engine is the best of the Dimps games.
How so? Shin Budokai AR and Infinite World have more offensive and defensive gameplay options in comparison to b3
>I think, but it still doesn't offer the same tactical complexity as something like Street Fighter, [/b]
They don't need to.
When you start Burst Limit you have THREE characters unlocked at the start. THREE. Most fighting type games give you 2/3rds or so of the roster, and have you unlock bonus characters.
You could download a save.
There is no reason to ever fire ki blasts at your opponent
The use of ki blasts in the budokai games in general are useless, considering they can easily be dodged/countered/blocked. I'm not sure what your point is on here??? I thought you were going to call out the fact that cancel combos are practically useless in BL when considering that ki recharge is to great.
>Dragon Rushes happen far too much.
Really? Using Dragon Rushes of all things? Dragon Rush is useless when considering that they are based on
luck, and ultimately unsafe. DR require the use of going into hypermode, which is an unsafe mode all together because they open you up to a cancel combo once it's done . If anything you should say how ultimately useless it is and how it shouldn't even be in the game in the first place.
Budokai 3 has flaws, but using DR to say they "Happen too much" is making me scratch my head.

The fact that characters in Shin Budokai AR have different strategies, different cancel set ups', juggle set ups, unique Ki cancelling set ups, differences in priority makes your entire post "moot" when it comes to questioning "uniqueness" in the budokai games .
This even extends into Infinite World where character chains and cancel combos are different, with characters having different instant guard break attacks . Yeah you heard that characters are different because they were right and you went on some some " budokai games have some basic shit" with the intent to try to rebute that statement, which quite frankly has jack to do with anything and doesn't negate that point at all.
Also, Budokai 3 is the most unbalanced DIMPS game, I mean, when of your roster doesn't have Ultimates simply because, then obviously there's something wrong. They kinda tried to fix that with IW, problem was, most of the new ultimates were SB2 style which clashed with the others
What are you talking about? Budokai 3 isn't the most "imbalanced game" , that goes to Shin Budokai Another Road when considering the huge gap in actual tiers, broken piccolo, and the fact that some of the roster is practically useless in comparison to the top tiers. You have guys like Piccolo who can SSS you from a huge distance that negates your own characters priority.
And this isn't even getting into the S Starter>R Starter in general nonsense. Granted , some characters don't have ultimates in B3, but they aren't even that great anyway since they also required the use of hyper mode, and even if you combo'd your character into an ultimate, your opponent could lessen the damage. compared to atleast SBAR where characters have ultimates that can safely be combo'd into, with unique ones like bardocks that can be cancelled into other cancel combos.
