Dragon Ball Wikidiots
That's it... I'm fed up with trying to improve the Wikipedia articles regarding Dragon Ball. Two articles I've started have the biggest morons in the DB world I've ever seen.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Tullece
Okay... these people will not stop saying that DBZ Gaiden was an OVA. Isn't that the exact thing that VegettoEX has gone out of his way to prove it wasn't?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Bal ... _Adventure
I just watched the censored Uranai Baba FUNimation dub and can't find any record of Akuman's name being "Spike" in the dub... and yet there's one troublemaker keeps changing it to that and saying that's what it was in the dub!
I'm starting to truly hate Wikipedia now.... [shameless plug]Thank Kami for Anipedia.[/plug]

He does actually make a point. As for whether or not the video was supposed to be game footage or not, it still basically stands that it went to video first, so technically it's an OVA. Course that wont fly over here on these forums, same with how I think Tullece (however accurate) is still not the 'correct' name.'An OVA is an anime specifically made for the video market, which won't be shown on TV nor in the cinemas, only released in VHS/LD/DVD.
"Plan..." was released in VHS in August 1993 and was never shown on TV nor in the cinemas.
The Playdia video-game, wich used footage from this OVA, was released in August 1994, a year later.
Now, please think a little... How could "Plan..." possibly be "videogame footage" if the videogame wasn't released until a year after the release of the anime on VHS ?'

Ekh, I'm really angry at some of the idiots at Wikipedia. For the past while now, I've dedicated my time to fixing up some of the lesser known articles (Such as one about the Dragon Balls. And a crappy created one about LOG2 which I cleaned up considerably)
But as far as I'm concerned, most of the Dragon Ball-related articles (with the exceptions of Majin Buu, Freeza, and Goku which are all former GA's) are crappily done. So yeah, I've come to no longer trust Wikipedia when it comes to Dragon Ball.

I've made countless edits to various Dragon Ball articles. I generally have to clean up after people have made entries with careless spelling and grammar.
The worst thing I've seen though is the crazy amount of people who actually think Mr. Satan's article should be called "H.ercule", simply because it's an English wikipedia and we go by Funimation's dub. (WTF? Since when does that matter? Mr. Satan is the official name). There was a long feud about it a while ago and I tried my best to convince people the guy's name is Mr. Satan (and that H.ercule is completely made up), but no luck.

That's weird. How many dubs are there. We know the FUNi dub didn't call him Spike, did they? I know for sure that the Blue Water dub (the one with Zoe Slusar as Goku, which was actually quite enjoyable) called him The Blue Devil. And did the Harmony Gold dub even get that far? Of course if you talk about that, Goku should be named Zero and whatnot.The S wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Bal ... _Adventure

Even if they go by dub names, FUNi uses Mr. Satan in their uncut dub, so there shouldn't be any dispute.tarsonis wrote:The worst thing I've seen though is the crazy amount of people who actually think Mr. Satan's article should be called "H.ercule", simply because it's an English wikipedia and we go by Funimation's dub. I'd think so too. But apparently, they're using the argument that this is the English Wikipedia, and thus should its English name, and blah blah blah.Even if they go by dub names, FUNi uses Mr. Satan in their uncut dub, so there shouldn't be any dispute.
And they don't seem notice there is a certain article named 'Vegetto'!
Which is absolutely absurd for so many reasons, one being how Roshi mentioned that they still use Mr. Satan in the uncut version. Maybe I should start a discussion on getting it changed. I know I'll need some reasons though, so if anyone can think of some, jump in.Eclipse wrote:But apparently, they're using the argument that this is the English Wikipedia, and thus should its English name, and blah blah blah.
Let's hope they never do.And they don't seem notice there is a certain article named 'Vegetto'!

I do believe he was Devilman in FUNimation's dub. If I remember correctly (and I may not, so correct me if necessary), the names were as follows:
Draculaman -> Fangs
Invisible Man -> Seethrough
Miirakun -> Bandages
Akuman -> Devilman
In fact, FUNimation's site refers to his attack as the Devilmite beam!

Least the Japanese Wikipedia article was interesting

Finally something new from Wikipedia! These guys have TV ratings!If from strength of impression of the original cast, as for the casting of the successor severe critisism it is many and among the old casts, it excludes Kohei Miyauchi who becomes the deceased, as for the mostly dubbing artist afterwards it is returned as for one time with such as game.
Audience rating
* Average audience rating: 20.5 %
* The highest audience rating: 27.5 %

Here's what the "idiot" said on Wikipedia, something our genius, The S, strangely forgot to notice :
First line : 1990年代OVA作品
Then let's see what we can find in the year "1993" :
ドラゴンボールZ/外伝・サイヤ人絶滅計画(全2巻) 1993年8月
But...that would mean that..."Plan to destroy the Saiyajin" is an OVA
No, that's not possible, The GENIUS S can't be wrong ! So it's Tôei Animation that are idiots...
After all, it's The S who created DBZ, not Tôei. So Tôei is wrong, that's obvious...
On a more serious note, the "idiot" is very sorry to have written facts that even the people on Daizex forum weren't aware of (or maybe didn't want to admit)... Instead I'm going to add the complete story of DBAF, that'll be more interesting.
Let's see what's in this link...Moreover, and that's the final point, "Plan..." appears in an official listing of OVAs made by Tôei Animation in the 1990s : http://www.toei-anim.co.jp/tv/ov1990.html

Well, if you read thearticle that VegettoEX himself wrote, he does admit that the footage can be considered an OVA if that helps.

Why are you writing "Tôei" instead of simply "Toei"? That seems like a lot of extra work for something that's... err... yeah.
As for Toei calling it an OVA... what else do you expect them to call it? It's a logical short acronym to list on their page instead of "new animation released as a strategy guide for a game that this animation was first done for but it's actually based on a Famicom game".

Well, that's the same for "Daizenshuu" vs "Daizenshu", I think...VegettoEX wrote:Why are you writing "Tôei" instead of simply "Toei"? That seems like a lot of extra work for something that's... err... yeah.

Me ? Nothing else...
But at least I expected that some people would not call me a "moron" or an "idiot" for saying obvious things that had previously been stated by Toei...

Same here... you can find me at the Oozaru article. I have edited little things that just bug me. I'm a avid Wikipedia user!tarsonis wrote:I've made countless edits to various Dragon Ball articles. I generally have to clean up after people have made entries with careless spelling and grammar.

It's only an 'OVA' by the meaning of the words not the meaning of the term. Saying 'the Plan to Erratcate the Saiyans' is an OVA because it's animation released directly to video is no more correct than saying "Batman" is anime.Folken-sama wrote:But at least I expected that some people would not call me a "moron" or an "idiot" for saying obvious things that had previously been stated by Toei...
