What is the "Man Of Steel" argument? I'm Curious.

That Superman caused the damage and civilian casualties in Metropolis, all the while completely disregarding the damage caused by Zod and his troops.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:What is the "Man Of Steel" argument? I'm Curious.
But that's not true, you can find a character that was just introduced interesting and want to learn more about him or her. The writers have explicitly stated that Pan got a central role because there was a lot of room for growth with her character.so they had this expectation they would make him into an interesting character. From the get-go, of course nobody gives a crap about him.
Also note, I wouldn't want Pan to get the shaft either. I just always found it weird that she had more of a central role than everyone except Goku.

And yet they squandered even that as well.

Instead of taking a shot at the series, explaining your POV would be more helpful.DBZAOTA482 wrote:And yet they squandered even that as well.

Re: Why you really did not like Dragon Ball GT/parts of it
You know I like that this thread still is actively used but I wish it would be more used for what I asked, what made people still not like parts of GT even if they watched the original version which I think of as having a very Dragon Ball-worthy atmosphere. Just talking about things like execution itself is something that - from what I have seen - was done already in many threads. So I wanted to include the question about the original because to me it seems like it pretty much is as much Dragon Ball as the rest and some maybe just got lost in other versions, meaning if you really want to talk about what you think of as flawed execution I would like to talk about it in a way that actually stays true to the original. Many things can also be talked about even without considering the Japanese version still somehow I get the feeling if more people would have watched it -maybe a well translated version in case they cannot speak Japanese - they would have liked it more as I think its atmosphere and what the characters actually say comes closer to what the atmosphere and characters are in DBZ.
I hope you understand what I mean. It is very much a thing of feeling.

I would but I don't think I'm not up for writing a wall of text over how her character sucks in GT, and arguing over it.ABED wrote:Instead of taking a shot at the series, explaining your POV would be more helpful.DBZAOTA482 wrote:And yet they squandered even that as well.

You don't need to write a wall, just a few bullet points or it just comes off as a sniping comment with little purpose but bashing.DBZAOTA482 wrote:I would but I don't think I'm not up for writing a wall of text over how her character sucks in GT, and arguing over it.ABED wrote:Instead of taking a shot at the series, explaining your POV would be more helpful.DBZAOTA482 wrote:And yet they squandered even that as well.

Re: Why you really did not like Dragon Ball GT/parts of it
I kind liked GT when I was little (I thought Trunks was hilarious for some reason), so I decided to record some of the FUNi dub from NickToons (I know that's not quite the best channel for it, with all the censoring) to see if I had a different opinion.
Dear God, that Mark Menza score is absolutely atrocious! It's worse than the recycled Monster Rancher music... I was trying to watch Piccolo have a heartwarming speech as he was about to die. All I get for accompaniment is an obnoxious guitar piece that sounds like stock music.
I'm not denying that Menza could be a good composer; he definitely can be. But wow... I never liked the "Grand Tour" rap either.
Some parts of it I liked, like Super Android 17. Chuck Huber's performance of him was wonderful.
Pan's VA in FUNi is....questionable. She sounds like a dying cat. I know the Blue Water dub isn't very good either, but the voice for Pan there is better.
I have not seen the original, though I've heard it's way better.

What if the execustion REALLY WAS what everyone hated about GT? NAnd what did you intend this thred for then? You do know that people had fast speed internet in common homes these days for over a decade. Someone who is a causal fan of DBZ can easily discover the movie on a quick Google search and find the movie on Youtube or the wikipedia. You can easily download the thing and watch it on Quicktime. I even discover this site thanks to Google back in 2003. If it was the 90's then I would agree but I can't imagine fans not knowing about it until the 2010 remake.NeoKING wrote: Most DBZ fans? Hardcore fans, maybe. Casual fans of the show likely had no idea it existed.
You can't compare the sagas of DB and DBZ together since they are totally different from each other. Piccolo Daimo was a alien and not a magical being. The Cell saga and the RR army has nothing in common with each other other they have a connection with the Red Ribbon Army. Yes, the DB and DBZ anime and manga do rehash things but GT rehash things worst in my opinion. The Sigma Force is just a poor man's version of the Ginyu Force that it's not even funnyNeoKING wrote:

Dragon Ball Z: First saga ends in an Ohzaru thrashing the battlefield; Goku fights Freeza; Goku deals with Red Ribbon Androids; Goku fights a magical being (Replace "Ma" kanji with "M");
Dragon Ball GT: First saga has a Golden Ohzaru; Goku deals with a Machine Mutant Android; Goku fights a magical being;

Doing a tokusatsu parody twice is not nearly as bad as "Let me get more and more blonde hair for bigger lasers."Hellspawn28 wrote: Yes, the DB and DBZ anime and manga do rehash things but GT rehash things worst in my opinion. Also GT is the most baller shit.

The majority of the moments with Goku acting like a fool as a child. I didn't like the fact that he got turned into a kid. Also, anytime when Giru opened his mouth.

He wasn't a child, he had the body of a child, and he always acts like a fool. GT isn't some aberration.MediaFanGirl93 wrote:The majority of the moments with Goku acting like a fool as a child. I didn't like the fact that he got turned into a kid. Also, anytime whdn Giru opened his mouth.

Okay you do make a point. In fairness, I just didn't like how Goku was sometimes. There were many things I found wrong with GT, but it's best that I keep my mouth closed to avoid flame wars.ABED wrote:He wasn't a child, he had the body of a child, and he always acts like a fool. Re: Why you really did not like Dragon Ball GT/parts of it
The concepts and executions were awful. Except for Baby, who had a good concept with a bad execution.
The Monkey King wrote:It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWokeRandomGuy96 wrote:He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.dbgtFO wrote: Please elaborate as I do not know what you mean by "pushing Vegeta's destruction"
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.
