Freeza's , with millions of Ki takes "5 minutes" to destroy Namek.

How big was Namek, anyway?

Dodoria called it a "pretty small planet".

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.

The Moon is a lot smaller than a Earth-ish planet.

Of course, the idea that organic energy could vaporize the Moon is incredibly silly, much less a planet.

Does he say so in the manga? I don't remember...
I just checked the manga, and no, he doesn't say it. Either I missed it or it's filler. But I'm pretty sure it's not there. Toei probably just added it after they realized "five minutes" was taking a dozen episodes.
Incorrect. Freeza says "It's taking longer than expected, but it shouldn't be more than 2 or 3 more minutes!"

This being after a significant chunk of the fight has passed.

Actually, given the usual speed of ki, the fact that Piccolo was just using a generic ki blast instead of a specific attack, and how fast it reached the Moon...

DBZ's Moon is a large painted balloon hovering in the atmosphere.

Hm. Well, this does explain why there's no rubble or bad effects on the Earth...

You see the moon again and again in the anime. The manga is pretty much direct with what actually needs to be shown. After Piccolo destroys the moon in the Saiyan Arc, you never see Earth's moon again (according to the manga).

There are four possible reasons:

1)As you say, Earth's moon is a painted ballon.
2)Piccolo was so STRONG that he evaporized the whole moon, and the rubble.
3)Radditz had survived, and destroyed the rubble in the speed of light with the watch the birdie attack, and then went to live with other people, helping them and being a good guy.
4) The moon is a football filled with helium, explaining the explosion. And it was not far away in the atmoshere either.

I think that we can surely assume that number three is the most logical.

*pant* *pant*Piccolo was a bit washed out after he destroyed the moon. I think he had to put all of his power into it. *pant* *pant*

I'm assuming this is before the Farmer w/ Shotgun exacted his revenge?

Surely did the farmer exact his revenge, but Radditz was revived by the use of the Yadrat Dragonballs.

Cell's cells were suppose to include the farmer but if they did Cell wouldn't die. Akira told me before his nth heart attack.

I can surely say that it was between my tenth, not ninth heart-attack when I told you about that.

Forget this post.

The farmer himself was awesome, sure. But it was his MAG +100 Shotgun that was responsible for most of his power.

It's about the same size as Earth, since Bulma has no trouble walking.

It could simply be less dense than Earth. If the gravitational pull of Namek was the same as Earth, then it's total mass was probably the same as Earth.
