Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
My reason has nothing to do with Vegeta's ego; he's pulling a double-agent thing either because he's got one last plan for defeating Freeza and this is part of it OR Freeza threatens him into it (like Freeza will let Bulma and Trunks live IF Vegeta comes with him).
EDIT: Well, maybe not Trunks; maybe Freeza's already killed Trunks by that point.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I like the theory that Freeza killed/kidnapped Goten and Trunks due to their resemblance to the two Saiyans who killed him. That would explain why they're missing from the trailers, and might actually make the trailers a bit more poignant.

Freeza doesn't need to trust him. What if he wanted Vegeta to join him just to humiliate him? Considering how arrogant he is, I don't see why not. He's arrogant enough to not spend time training when he already knows how little time it would truly take to surpass his foes. So he could be so arrogant that he'd just let Vegeta be his underling, and mess with him if he tries something. People already say he's arrogant to the point of stupidity, so I can see here too if it covers every other fallacy.Kamiccolo9 wrote:Freeza was /that/ much more powerful than Vegeta before, and didn't feel threatened by him, and lost his chance at immortality because of it. You sure. Its getting a redub, got a redrawn manga, a new anime and it has those new conventions.
Wasn't the redub to do with the new show Sailor Moon Crystal? Those other things don't imply it's nearly as big as Naruto. Naruto has sold over 200 million volumes, it's anime airs all over the world and has over 600 episodes, 10 movies, dozens of video games, manga spin offs, it's the #1 most popular manga on any manga website, countless youtube videos with Naruto get millions of views, it gets vasts amount of google interest etc.
It's easily more popular. The most viewed Sailor Moon video = 11 million views, most viewed Naruto video = 25 million views.
This shows the difference really.

One Piece came second place in a worldwide anime/manga poll with the obvious getting first.
And where is this poll?
Naruto is only a multi-million selling franchise. Sailor Moon is a multi-billion selling franchise.
Obviously Naruto is a multi billion selling franchise, 200 million+ volumes with a retail price of $8-10 makes it a multi billion selling franchise from that alone. Then they've sold about 20 million video games, probably sold millions of DVD's and then surely a shit ton of merchandise.
So no it is not ONLY a multi million selling franchise. The films have made over $100 million at the box office themselves.

OK, site updated with translation of today's blog post:
According to the “further details” on the movie’s official site, the five games which the “Full Master” card unlocks special movie-related content for are: Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2 (3DS), Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle (iOS/Android), Dragon Ball: Zenkai Battle Royale (arcade), Dragon Ball XENOVERSE (PS3/PS4/360/XBO/PC), and the upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden (3DS).
As noted in the news post: although the Complete Script Compilation is described as “newly drawn” (描き下ろし), it is referred to as a script rather than a manga; “newly drawn” may refer to character designs or other images Toriyama drew for the movie. “Godliest” Edition (最“神”刊/sai”shin”kan) is presumably a pun on 最新刊/saishinkan, meaning “latest edition”. The book is labelled “Vol. F” as a pun on how the original tankōbon volumes of the series were labeled. There’s now only 42 days until the premiere!
Hello, staff here.
Today I’ve got some Important! And! Happy! News!
C-Can it be? Yes! The theatrical bonus items for the film Dragon Ball Z: Revival of "F", premiering Saturday April 18th, have been decided! (*Applause!!*)
And the details are…!
The first 1.5 million movie-goers will receive not only the “Akira Toriyama Newly-Drawn Complete Script Compilation: JC ‘Godliest’ Edition Dragon Ball Vol. F”, but also the “Dragon Ball Ultimate Card Set”!
The Akira Toriyama Newly-Drawn Complete Script Compilation: JC ‘Godliest’ Edition Dragon Ball Vol.F" compiles the script Akira Toriyama personally made for the movie, material from the movie’s conceptualization stage, commentary and more! It’ll definitely be a precious treasure!
We strongly, strongly recommend that you only read this after seeing the film!
As for the other present, the Dragon Ball Ultimate Card Set is a special set of two cards only available at theaters: the first is a Dragon Ball Heroes card of either movie-version Son Goku or movie-version Vegeta, and the second is the “Full Mastery! The 5 Great Dragon Ball Games Super Warrior Certificate!” card, which enables you to obtain fantastic content in five different Dragon Ball games!!
Check out the official site for further details!
These presents are limited-supply only, so don’t let this chance pass you by! Make a beeline for the theaters this April 18th!!!
Also, as of today the trailer for Dragon Ball Z: Revival of "F” will start making the rounds in theaters! It’s the same one released a few days ago, but it’ll be even more amazing up on the big screen, so be sure to check it out!

Man, this is some really exciting stuff! I'd love to get my hands on Vol.F someday...
Multiple countries are represented there. I also found this general survey, that appears to have thousands upon thousands of votes (Though I'm only judging it based on the likes on comments). http://www.thetoptens.com/anime/
I'd be willing to bed this is somehow tied into one of the DLC packs. This almost solidifies it for me.Herms wrote:Dragon Ball XENOVERSE (PS3/PS4/360/XBO/PC)

Not sure if I'm reading that right, but it looks like Sailor Moon has a higher search index in the US than Naruto, and a lot of Naruto's searches are coming from Indonesia. Not trying to make a point one way or the other, just thought that was pretty interesting. Like...the amount of attention Naruto is getting around Indonesia is incredibly high.

Are we talking all time or just in the now? As for the redub their redubing the original anime and then crystal making it more manga accurate. Also if were going off Manga sales than one piece is king to even DBZ.Bullza wrote:You sure. Its getting a redub, got a redrawn manga, a new anime and it has those new conventions.

In the long run I don't see mainstream mentioning Naruto in 20 years where as Sailor Moon was huge for her 20th anniversary.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I plan to go see the movie on the 3rd of May but I'm sure that more than 1.5 million people would have seen it by then so I probably won't get a copy myself.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Oh I see, interesting. Those links are going by what's at the top quality wise as opposed to awareness but you'd have to be pretty well known for it to make the list in the first place. On the TopTenlists it has Pokémon all the way down at 18th and while it's not a very good show it's obviously one of the most popular series overall. They may be referring to this
That said no mention of Sailor Moon on the one and it's all the way down in 44th on the other where Naruto makes 4th.
You can filter the search by country. So for United States...Not sure if I'm reading that right, but it looks like Sailor Moon has a higher search index in the US than Naruto, and a lot of Naruto's searches are coming from Indonesia.
http://www.google.co.uk/trends/explore# ... cmpt=q&tz=
It's still drastically more for Naruto.
My original comment was for now.Are we talking all time or just in the now? As for the redub their redubing the original anime and then crystal making it more manga accurate. Also if were going off Manga sales than one piece is king to even DBZ.
And yes One Piece has sold more copies overall than Dragon Ball but only 13% of it's sales come from countries outside of Japan. Likewise with Dragon Ball 35% of it's sales come from outside of Japan and with Naruto 37% of it's sales come from outside of Japan so One Piece is much more Japan centric.
Naruto has sold a lot more volumes outside of Japan than what One Piece has, same with Dragon Ball because it's more internationally popular.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Right, so I looked back to find the actual scanslation that started this whole "new manga" idea in the first place and here it is. The bit in question:
First off, these presents are actually available for only 1.5 million (150万) early viewers, rather than 15 million, so they're off by an order of magnitude. They probably just left out the decimal point by accident, but still, that's incredibly sloppy. Japan's current population is about 126 million, so the idea of them printing up enough copies of these things for well over 10% of the entire country's total population is pretty wild. Especially since they're supposed to be limited-edition "rare treasures". Somebody should have been proofreading this thing, and noticed that "15 million" made no sense in context.
They give the title as "The Strongest God: Dragon Ball Book of F". "The Strongest God" is presumably a mistranslation of 最“神”刊/sai”shin”kan, literally meaning "Godliest Edition" but presumably a pun on 最新刊/saishinkan, “latest edition”. Likewise, "Book of F" is a mistranslation of 巻「F」, "Vol.F", the idea being that since the original manga was divided up into volumes (Vol.1 to Vol.42), then this is Vol.F. I suppose "Book of F" isn't as crazy off the mark as the "15 million" thing or the "Strongest God" thing, but still, 巻 means "volume" rather than "book". They're related concepts, but not interchangeable. You wouldn't call the final volume of the DB manga "Book of 42", after all.
But the big one: the scanslators call it a "complete manga", when in Japanese it's actually never called a manga but rather always called a script. In fact, "complete manga" is probably a mistranslation of 脚本完全収録, "script complete compilation", which is part of the book's actual title. It's true that Toriyama is described as drawing it, and I'm not too sure why, but if it were a manga there'd be no reason for the folks at Shueisha/Toei/etc to not simply call it a manga. Instead they call it a script. It's possible the script contains images of some sort, and maybe it's not a traditional script. I'm certainly curious to learn more details about it. But bottom line is, if it were a manga, they'd call it a manga, but they don't, so presumably it isn't. All signs point to it being some sort of script, along with the "commentary and material from the movie's conceptual stage" mentioned on the official site and blog.
I know it's probably not fair to pick on random internet people who are most likely just trying to do the best translation job they can, but this is so wrong it's actually kind of amazing.A special present only available to 15 million early movie viewers
A special complete manga drawn by Akira Toriyama himself named "The Strongest God: Dragon Ball Book of F"

In the case of One Piece, both "Volume 0" (with Strong World) and "Volume 1000" (with Film: Z) got reprints (1 million and 2 million extra copies, respectively), though I suppose that depends on how well the movie is doing whether they do that for this one, too.Bullza wrote:I plan to go see the movie on the 3rd of May but I'm sure that more than 1.5 million people would have seen it by then so I probably won't get a copy myself.

I'd assume the contents of that 'Vol. F' thing is the sort of thing we could expect to eventually see detailed on the website, right? I'm really hoping so.
Oh man, I'm also really hoping that we end up getting whatever the Xenoverse stuff is too, even if it's just at a later date. At bare minimum, I can see it giving us Goku and Vegeta's outfits (both for their characters and as outfits for our customs) and Golden Freeza (whether he'd be his own character or just another outfit slot for Freeza, I'm not sure), but depending on their importance/how far they wanna go, I could see them tossing in Tagoma and Sorbet as well (and maybe Tagoma's Scouter as an accessory for customs?). Oh, and I guess Super Saiyan God Vegeta too, if that actually does turn out to be a thing.
