Anyone else agree?

Post by Vegeta Jr » Sun Apr 20, 2008 7:28 pm

I have been posting over the past 5 days and i have just realised that this board is really slow, i can see that most people probably have jobs and other things to do but it does seem pretty ridiculous that an entire week can go by in a thread without one responce with over 2000 members?

I don't want to come off as some whiny little child who has nothing to do because I'm not, I'm fairly new and decided to be an active member.

So what's the dealio guys, should we be trying to recruit more members or are we stuck in this limbo?

I guess i'm just too used to really fast boards like gamefaqs where you get a response in no more than 10 minutes.

This is a pretty niche forum, plus I highly doubt that all 2,000 members or however many of them there are, are all active.

I don't think the pace here is all that slow, though I know there are other forums that move faster. It's true that some of the sections (sub-forums?) hardly ever get new posts (this one, for instance), but the General Discussion and Questions ones are pretty active. So I don't really know what you're talking about when you say threads can go a week without comment. Another thing to keep in mind is that Vegetto EX is rather strict about the kinds of posts people make. He doesn't want people to post unless they actually have something to contribute, so people are discouraged from posting things like "I agree" or "You're dumb!" or pointless jokes. This cuts down the amount of overall posts compared to other places, but I think it does improve the quality of the board. I personally wouldn't want this board to have a faster pace in exchange for more noise to signal.
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?
Sometimes, I tweet things
We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

I agree, it is just that i'm not used to it, also my week thing was from looking at this sub forum where in fact there are like year lapses.

Of the 2000 members, only a few dozen post regularly. I mean, I'm the fifth most postingest member, and I only post four or five times a day.

For a more rapid discussion, you might try the irc channel. I'm not there myself but I hear that a lot of the regulars are there, well, regularly.

This board is active enough for me.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I think it's just that the most relevant and new subjects got posted on and the older ones get neglected. Like that post about the holiday memories or whatever, nobody is going to post on that now.

This is the most active board I've come across since back in 01, 02. A coupke dozen new posts a day, vastly intelligent and interesting? Fantastic.

...Where did you hear that?

As nice as it would be if that were still true, it's not, and hasn't been for a year or so. And a lot of people who do go in to ask questions tend to leave if they don't get a response within 30 seconds. :? So I wouldn't suggest getting on IRC if you don't think even the forums are quick enough.

(Though I would suggest getting on IRC to everyone in general. People do other things while they're online; you just have to be patient!)

Well, yeah... There's a rule about not bumping dead threads.

Sorry about pointing out the obvious, that was just a bad example to use.
