....that the logo for Dragonball: Evolution is like a modernized version of the Dragon Ball Z logo?

Notice how they both have overlapping letters, and there is a Dragonball instead of the "o". They both just have the same feel to them. Do any of you agree? Also, the letters have the same exact parts covered up. The first "L" is smaller than the next.

Hmmm. Well when I compare the two they just seem surprisingly alike. It's almost as if the logo.....evolved.

They look the same to me. </nitpick> The first L is raised higher though, just like on the 'traditional' Z logo, which is interesting.

I'm not really feeling it. Sticking a Dragon Ball where the 'O' is is always an obvious, pretty lame thing to do. The only way it'd be more of a drag, for the manga, animé or LAM, would be to have Goku's head there instead.

Hm, I don't think the logos have the same feel. Not to me, anyway. But it's neat that they took their ques from the original.

The original logo has a warm feeling to it, but the live-action one feels cold, with that metallic font.

Yeah. It's almost like they were in it only for the money...

Movies always seem to use cold metallic fonts like that, don't they? It's hard to imagine them using something as cartoony and, as you put it, warm as the original logo.

If they did something cartoony looking it would drive away the "HARDCORE ADULT" market. Something like the title would drive those peons away. I can picture it now "WHY ARE THESE FAGGOT LETTERS ALL BIG AND COLORFUL FUCK THIS SHIT YO IMMA GO WATCH SAW 62!"

As for the topic I don't see the resemblance...at all to be honest.

As opposed to Toriyama and Toei, who were only in it for the pure love for the series and didn't care about money at all.

Wait...

Don't you know? Money is obsolete in Japan. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in their lives. They work to better ourselves and the rest of Humanity.

...Oh wait, I'm thinking of Star Trek.

I'm with NeptuneKai. I honestly see no resemblance (aside from the dragon ball in the "O", but, like has already been mentioned, that's an obvious asthetic thing to do, anyways).

Eh... Grasping at straws?

That's true, but far less so for the movie title; and overlapping letters aren't really unique. Also, it looks half-assed: look how some of the letters have cut corners (like fist L) instead of being under the adjoining letter; and the shadows are so deep over each letter (the letters are over each other, yet lack proper depth).
Cartman Blues wrote: and there is a Dragonball instead of the "o".
Not quite. There's a dragon ball inside the 'O', and it's obscured by (shitty looking) lightning for some reason.
Cartman Blues wrote:Also, the letters have the same exact parts covered up.
Because they're using the same letters, it's bound to match up like that - but it doesn't even match up that well. In the original logo we have:
D(over)R(over)A(over)G(under)O(over)N(next to)B(over)A(over)L(over)L
In the new logo we have: (bold letters have similar positioning to old logo)
D(next to)R(over)A(over)G(over)O(next to)N(under)B(under)A(over)L(next to)L

The 'A', that's the only letter has the same positioning as the old logo.
Cartman Blues wrote:The first "L" is smaller than the next.
No, it's just up higher. They're the same size.
Cartman Blues wrote:They both just have the same feel to them.
No, they don't.

Dragonball is hardcore serious fucking business...not some fun loving coming of age tale about a boy who fell from the sky.

The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

The logo looks really different, the only thing that looks the same is the letters infront of each other, and the LLs possitions, but the BA is the wrong way.

How comes the logo is different everywhere else anyway?

Exactly!

Also, the capslock fever bothers me with the DBE logo, but not the DBZ logo. :?

I attribute this to the type of font they used for DBE looks like it wasn't designed for "all caps".

Well apart from both logos being spelt the same (minus the Z), I don't see the similarities.

The similarity is the positioning of the letters. How some letters cover others, how some extend in certain ways, etc. Eh.

You see what you did there? Bawhawhaw.

On a topic-related note, I just think Spider-Man 3; it seems companies don't quite get the "but it wasn't very good" vibe. But money and quality don't go hand in hand. I'm starting to think they don't like each other very much.
I dislike you intensely.(probably)
