The 2013 #31 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump announced three new series set to debut in the 2013 #33 issue to mark the 45th anniversary of the magazine, including Jaco the Galactic Patrolman by Dragon Ball author Akira Toriyama, stating: "the 'legend' the whole world has been waiting for returns here!!" Subsequent descriptions were more explicit, with Shueisha's own promotion on release labeling it as: "The shocking revival of Dragon Ball!!"[7]
In their respective 2013 #31 issue of the "Weekly Shonen Jump" digital magazine, Viz announced their forthcoming simultaneous publication of the series translated into English.[8]
The key visual used to promote the series early on (Jaco flying with Ōmori and Tights in tow) was used in a full-page panel spread in the series' sixth chapter.
Kōhei Ōnishi served as Toriyama's editor on Jaco the Galactic Patrolman.

- Jaco Tilimentempibosshi (ジャコ・ティリメンテンピボッシ, Jako Tirimentenpibosshi): TBD. "Jaco" is the character's given name, while "Tirimentenpibosshi" is the character's family name.
- Ōmori Tokunoshin (大盛 徳之進, Ōmori Tokunoshin): TBD. "Tokunoshin" is the character's given name, while "Ōmori" is the character's family name.
- Tights (タイツ, Taitsu): TBD. Per the rest of her family, "Tights" is the character's given name; she does not have a surname.

While the "Dragon Ball Minus" bonus chapter was only included within the collected edition in Japan, Viz included their English translation of the chapter in that corresponding week's 2014 #19 digital release of the Weekly Shonen Jump publication[9]; it was later also included in the company's 2015 print and digital collected edition.
Vomic
Four "vomic" ("voiced comic") installments covering the first and second chapters of the series were produced for the Saikyomi JanBANG! television program[10]; these were later released online for free over the course of February 2014. The voice cast includes Tsubasa Yonaga as Jaco, Issei Futamata as Ōmori, and Takuya Satō as Katayude; none of the "vomic" voice actors would carry over to future character inclusions in the anime or video games. The "vomic" is fully colorized and features slight music and sound effects. The fourth and final installment includes the voice actors briefly discussing their experience recording the series.[11]
Collected Editions
Jaco the Galactic Patrolman received a collected edition in Japan 04 April 2014 in two formats: a tankōbon-sized edition and a kanzenban-sized "Super Elite" edition, the latter of which also included a keychain and and pin. The collected edition featured the "Dragon Ball Minus" bonus chapter in addition to the original eleven chapters from its serialization, along with character profiles in between chapters. The collected edition was released alongside Katsura Akira, a printed volume compiling Sachie-chan GOOD!! and Jiya.
International Releases
Jaco the Galactic Patrolman has been translated and released in various countries including America[12], Germany[13], and Brazil[14].
Legacy
Alongside other characters, Jaco and Tights make a cameo appearance in the eleventh chapter of Toyotarō's Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission series, originally published in September 2013.
The character of Jaco himself is used in the 2015 theatrical film Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'. This story was later adapted and re-told in the 2015 television series Dragon Ball Super; later in the television series, the Galactic King and Bulma's sister Tights also make appearances.
The January 2015 issue of Shueisha's V-Jump magazine, alongside the respective game's official website, revealed Jaco himself as a first-pressing bonus unlockable character in the first Dragon Ball XENOVERSE video game.[15] Jaco was also later made available in the game's third downloadable content pack.[16][17]
Jaco returned as a playable character in Dragon Ball XENOVERSE 2 and has subsequently appeared in Dragon Ball Fusions, the Dragon Ball Heroes game series, as well as the Dokkan Battle and Dragon Ball Legends mobile games.
