Universe Eight is called the "Industrious Universe". Their rank at the beginning of the Tournament of Power is No. 4 out of 12, which grants them exemption from the tournament.[1] The universe is ruled by the Kaiōshin Il, the God of Destruction Liquir, and his attendant Angel Korn.

Inhabitants

Divine Beings

Il (イル)
Japanese VA: Masakazu Morita
FUNimation VA: Bob Reed
First Appears: Dragon Ball Super Chapter 28 / Dragon Ball Super Episode 78

Il is a Kaiōshin who loves making plans and gets fired up when they come together.[1][2] Il's name pun is unknown, but many Kaiōshin appear to have been named after deities, and a likely source for his name is El/Il (イル/Iru), a Northwest Semitic word meaning "god" or "deity", although also used to refer to (as a proper name) multiple major Ancient Near East deities.[3]

Liquir (リキール)
Japanese VA: Daisuke Kishio
FUNimation VA: Dallas Reid
First Appears: Dragon Ball Super Chapter 28 / Dragon Ball Super Episode 78

Liquir lives to fix defects in his Kaiōshin's plans, and strictly destroys anyone who lowers their universe's level by not admitting to defects in plans.[1] Liquir's name is likely derived from "liqueur" (リキュール/Rikyūru), a term referring to any beverage made from a distilled spirit that has been flavored and bottled with additional sweetener. Liquir's name pun follows the theme of Gods of Destruction and Angels being named after alcoholic beverages.[3]

Korn (コルン)
First Appears: Dragon Ball Super Chapter 28 / Dragon Ball Super Episode 78

Korn is a very assertive angel who is not shy about sharing his high opinion of himself.[1] Korn's name comes from Korn (コルン/Korun), a German colorless distilled beverage produced from fermented cereal grain seed.[3]
