Well, sure, I can see your point if that's how Gohan saving the day would have gone... but it's not. Either Gohan would have just thrashed Buu and he'd have never absorbed anyone... Or Super Buu2 would have been even with (or maybe slightly stronger/weaker than) Gohan. Or, at the most, Super Buu 1 ...

While the Buu arc may have been a bit superfluous ( big word yay ), it did do a good job of wrapping up some aspects of DragonBall's story. Like giving closure to Goku and Vegeta's rivalry, having the inhabitants of Earth save their own wealking booties for once

I don't think that's nessessary. Mr. Buu may've seemed to be doing better because... he's a Buu!

I don't think that's viable either; Vegeta even states that a Buu can be hurt and worn down when fighting another Buu.

I have a hard time believing that the fat Majin Boo that fights Chibi Boo is weaker than the original fat Boo. Piccolo claims that Majin Boo's total (current) power is devided between them when they split, with the power balance favoring the skinny "pure evil" Boo, but I don't think it stays that ...

No this isn't a vs topic in that sense. I was just wondering if Fat Buu lost power after the Evil Buu split. I own the Viz manga, and this is all that is said in that translation: "Alas, sweetness stands little chance...against concentrated wrath." It makes no mention of Fat Buu losing any power ...
