Personally, I don't get why anyone would buy the edited versions. As someone above stated, the uncut ones were the ones people actually wanted, since they didn't air on TV.
It sounds crazy, but we've come to a point where some 13 years later, people just want to watch what they remember seeing on ...

On the subject of Kami's name, I've always assumed that it was Piccolo.

Did Toriyama name the characters he designed in Chrono Trigger? Sara (Translated as Schala in the English version) is a pretty major character in it.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Dragon Ball Z in general was late to the US. Our show wasn't released until way years after Japan did it. That's why the movies were late.
I think the thing is that movies 1, 2, and 3 were at least released somewhat relative to where the show was at in the dub at the time, but by 2001, the dub had ...

The bit that appears at the 40 second mark has always been a favorite of mine. It appeared a lot in the 1999 episodes and had a very nice, soothing, ambient feel to it. I feel like the version on the Best Of CD kind of ruins it by cutting it off at the 50 ...

Re: Questions about the Rock the Dragon set
Yeah, Movie 1 and 2 definitely had the Kikuchi score intact when they aired on Toonami. That was my first time realizing there was ever an English dub with the original music intact. Made me really happy when I saw them on TV for the first time.

I'm still annoyed at myself for not knowing the RtD set was on Amazon for, what was it, $30 during Christmas? I've been tempted to pick it up for a while, but I would've bought it immediately for that price.

How does the remaster hold up this?

It's no secret that the Z movies look very good in comparison to the old singles. 'Course, I believe FUNi actually received legitimate film reels of all DBZ footage for their remastering process, but only received tapes for ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" On Blu-ray: News & Discussion
Actually, funnily enough, a lot of Disney Blu Ray releases are cropped. I know The Great Mouse Detective's Blu Ray was cropped from 1.66:1 to 1.75:1 (Not too terribly noticeable but cropped is still cropped) and if I recall right, Robin Hood is like the DB movie cases where it was initially animated ...

For example, I plan on continuously releasing something. But in the first wave of releases, I decide to release 20 of them and 18 of them sell. Why would I release any more?

Re: Funimation DBZ movie packs
Yeah, the steelbook audio quality is really lousy and pretty much sounds no different than any other release. Funny thing is that the single's video quality is really lousy. No way to win unless you combine the two. I wonder what happened with the audio FUNi initially had.

This is the first time I've actually seen this thread. Your stuff is really good! I actually did a little bit of the same thing myself a couple of years ago. Re: Funimation DBZ movie packs
That is certainly true to an extent, but Movie 13's Japanese audio on the DVD (At least the original release) is most certainly true stereo and it sounds fantastic. Not just because it was mixed in stereo, but because the original audio quality itself is intact like it is on Dragon Box The Movies ...

Re: Quick question about the old DB Movie 2 DVD
I have the standard-sized three pack from 2005 before they went to the slim case. I'm pretty sure that was the first DVD release and it was only on tape before it. As far as I can tell the 2.0 track is indeed just mono, and as far as I can tell the same goes for the 5.1 track on this release, too. I ...

Hiya folks, I know that they, mostly Sabat, re-dub some stuff but is the 3rd track (U.S Broadcast) untouched?
On the orange bricks, I believe most of the redubs were carried over from the JP music track to the US music track.
Pretty much. There were a few -- VERY few -- lines from the Ultimate ...

I try to to avoid Amazon.com now as their packaging tends to be awful.

Basically, DBZ will only stop being rereleased when it no longer makes a profit or when it's no longer worth the effort.
As for my personal opinion, I am not happy with the way FUNi has treated the series at all. Their fortune was made mostly off of DragonBall, a fortune that they frankly do not ...

From the show? That elongated siren-esque sound that plays every time after a huge explosion, usually in a really quiet scene.

And Brice "Krillin's in the house!" Armstrong needs no words.
Er, that was Dale Kelley as the original Funi narrator, also the first Funi VA for Captain Ginyu. Brice Armstrong never did the narration for Dragon Ball Z. Which is unfortunate. He ties with Doc Morgan as my pick for best English ...
