Re: What phrases/opinions/things bring out your irate fanboy
What irrates me?
*Any time someone says that something isn't canon, be it GT, movies, etc.
*When people pronounce Saiyan as "sayin'". This one is impossible to avoid.
*People knocking the Ocean dub.
*Never bothering to view DB in Japanese. I have no problem with people preferring the show in their ...

Re: Steve Simmons and his DB franchise Subtitles.
I like Steve Simmons's subtitle work because he'll take culture into consideration of what he translates, i.e. honorifics. He also makes sure that the name puns are present or at least approximate the intention. I guess my only reservation would be the subtitle work on Plan to Eradicate the Super ...

Re: Will GT Really Become "Lost" This Time?
I don't think it will be lost any more than the movies would be. I think Western audiences are too caught up in this non-existent "canon" that they think that GT won't be a lasting component of the franchise. NeoKING made mention of MS Gundam, which I think is a good example of how a group of series ...

Re: BoG/Rof & GT are not in the same universe.
I'm going to make use of what I posted on a thread elsewhere:
I have no problem with the movies not fitting nicely into the show. In fact, I embrace it. The idea of a fluid Dragon Ball continuity seems appropriate. I'd compare it to reading different books depicting the same myth. One telling might ...

Re: When did Vegeta become a good guy?
I know that it will never happen now, but I wish they had made a special revolving around Vegeta between the Freeza and Cell sagas, where he was sort of an anti-hero. Those little bits in the show where he's decimating Freeza's planets and searching for Goku whet my appetite. Were those scenes filler?

Re: When did Vegeta become a good guy?
Three big turning points, I think.
During the end of the Cell saga when Vegeta apologizes to Gohan for his botched attempt at fighting back. Vegeta never apologizes and certainly never cares about anyone other than himself.
When he discovers that Gohan has "died" at the hands of Majin Boo and ...

Re: To make the movies canon, what changes would you make?
I'd place Movies 2, 3, and 5 during the three-year training period while adjusting for the Super Saiyan discovery. Not sure what I'd do with Movie 4 or the others. I'll have to ponder on this.

Re: Goten refers to Vegeta as Uncle?
I seem to recall Gohan calling Piccolo "Uncle" at one point during his training. Remember thinking it was weird, especially since it didn't seem like they were that close yet.

*Home releases of remaining Dragon Ball films and manga, including Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans

Re: Can other Characters expel their evil side?
Goku couldn't expel an evil side even if he wanted to.
That's what Tullece was for. 8)
In theory, I think some of the characters could expel provided they had the discipline and knowledge of said ability. Then again, maybe it's an ability unique to Namekians or those who are auditioning ...

Vegeta and his crew had probably never come close to death before Earth, so they wouldn't have been exposed to it.

Re: Goku interest in girls?
It is rather odd to see a lack of affection from someone who's a husband and father. I'd expect that from Vegeta, but not Goku.

Why does Cell have wings?
At no point does Cell make use of his wings, instead relying on bukujutsu to get around. My only guess is that the computer designed him that way so he could be airborne without consuming or revealing his ki via bukujutsu. But then his imperfect form is without wings, so it kind of throws that ...

I have no qualms with Kuririn being the strongest human. However, I think Ten likely surpassed Kuririn after he settled down.

Re: Beyond Super Saiyajin 4?
I'm gonna say that it stops at stage four. The Super Saiyan God form, while very likely the most powerful transformation (he is a god, after all), it can't actually be attained. I'm sure that Son was bummed out when he lost it.

Kung-Fu Hustle is the best we'll ever get to a Dragon Ball movie.
