Re: Does anyone else think Super is awful?

Conceptually its fantastic, execution though, woeful, especially if comparing to the quality Dragonball/Z. There is so much potential for this because the concepts are so damn strong, problem is, it fails utterly in terms of technical elements such as visuals, music, action choreography etc ...

Re: Supreme Kai's strength

Why does Piccolo's gesture of respect have to coincide with a display of cowardice?

Cowardice? Take it easy big fella, the facts of the matter are he was prepared to do battle with 3 Perfect Cell level Super Saiyans, knowing full well those warriors couldn't touch him unless they accessed their ...

Re: What is the General Consensus for Super?

I'm a Dragonball fan for the past 15 years, at this point I feel thats the only reason I'm still watching. If this was 10 year old me, I'm not sure I've seen anything that really drew me in the first few episodes of Z to keep me viewing. I really don't understand the jumping down of anybodies ...

Re: What's the best fight scene/moment, including movies?

Moments
Tie between 2 scenes in the anime, Goku walking straight up to Nappa after arriving from Kaios. I mean it doesn't sound like much but considering the savagery Nappa had just unleashed and the way they framed the whole thing to make the guy look like an absolute giant, while Goku didn't ...

AMV Request

As far as long shots go, well this pretty much reaches for the beyond, but I'll shoot anyway!

So a number of years ago I saw a very brief, extremely low quality AMV titled "Gohan the Furious Angel", from memory it had a run time of just under 2 minutes and had part of Rob Dougans Furious Angels as ...

Re: Where does Piccolo stand?

Well for starters, putting Piccolo at Vegeta and Trunks' level is already a big assumption. I think more evidence points to him being weaker than that point.
Really, how exactly is this a "big" assumption? Firstly I'm stating he is within their realms of power, doesn't mean stronger, doesn't even ...

Re: Where does Piccolo stand?

There's nothing inconsistent with the idea that he continued to train and just wasn't that strong. Even if he had trained, Goku and Vegeta were still pushing themselves like crazy, and Gohan was massively ahead of him at the Cell Games. He didn't have much room to catch up.
Well, thats what I was ...

Re: Where does Piccolo stand?

Honestly, its so hard to place him anywhere, fact wise the last clear indication of his strength we have is that he stood with both SS Vegeta and Trunks after the Cell jnr battle. So at the very least we can place him around their level, lower middle or higher realm is irrelevant, but he is ...

Re: Why was Piccolo "afraid" of East Kaioshin?

Call it what you will but this isnt a power thing, simply because it can't be a power thing, nothing allows it to be a power thing.
Well Kaioshin blatantly read Piccolo's mind like an open book and made that clear, when he responded to a question Piccolo was asking in his mind.
After that Piccolo ...

Re: Why was Piccolo "afraid" of East Kaioshin?

Furthermore, and I will say it again, how could he have forfeit for no other reason but respect for who Kaioshin was when no one could actually sense his power level?

To re-answer your question:
It wasn't respect. Kaioshin bid him to have fun and fight him at the tournament. Piccolo's response ...

Re: Why was Piccolo "afraid" of East Kaioshin?

It wasn't respect. Kaioshin bid him to have fun and fight him at the tournament. Piccolo's response was to forfeit anyway. Respecting Kaioshin's wishes would have been had he respected Kaioshin's verbally given wishes.

Piccolo was nowhere near Gohan and Goku's SSJ strength during the Cell Games ...

Re: Why was Piccolo "afraid" of East Kaioshin?

I always thought the general consensus on this whole thing was that he was just showing "respect". Story wise it seems pretty obvious, plus its the whole reason Piccolo specifically was matched with him, he was the only one he could possibly grasp who he was dealing with. As far as why I take this ...

Re: Goku not being able to lift 40 tons.

Just another one of the examples of the poor writing and inconsistency prevalent in the Buu Saga, honestly don't get caught up too much in the numbers, the scene wasn't about how much he could lift, but more of a means to show how much power he gained from going SS.

Just to give you a quick run ...

Re: The strongest earthling

I think I'll stick with my head canon of Tenshinhan being superior, as it just seems like Toriyama has lost touch with his own franchise

Even though the shit about Kuririn being stronger also came out while Toriyama was actually writing the manga?
Why not? The Buu saga is riddled with ...

Re: Are Androids 19 and 20 stronger than Freeza?

Piccolo though would have easily been able to sense Vegeta's ki dropping and tell that his strength was dropping considerably in relation to where it was earlier. Besides, Piccolo's generally shown more aptitude in seeing any issues or anomalies in an individual's strengths than others do. For ...

Re: Are Androids 19 and 20 stronger than Freeza?

What Piccolo was saying though, was that all of that was part of the bluff.
I agree to an extent, that may help explain the first point ala Vegeta's posturing but that has no bearing on him physically sustaining SSJ and summoning enough power to produce a devastating finishing attack. Furthermore ...

I understand that it is what Piccolo suggested, but I am referring directly to what Vegeta did in the physical and observational sense and basing my assumptions on that information. So again his physical presence/demeanour, sustained SSJ form and awe ...

Re: Are Androids 19 and 20 stronger than Freeza?

Piccolo seemed to notice that something was up with Goku pretty much right away, and likewise stated that Vegeta had lost a lot of stamina as a result of #19, so we don't know how much weaker Vegeta was following their skirmish. It wasn't just that Vegeta was worried about facing him with less than ...

Re: Are Androids 19 and 20 stronger than Freeza?

Personally the way I've always viewed it is that 19 and 20 represent what the original 17 and 18 were in Trunks's timeline. Also the fact that 19 was even able to mix it with SSJ Goku (sick or not, it took a while for Gohan and Piccolo to realise something was up and they both had a full grasp on ...

Re: Tenshinhan's absence at the 25th TB

Out of universe answers don't cut it, there's no in-story reason for why Tenshinhan wouldn't use that technique if it could actually kill them.

He caught Cell completely off guard with it, not to mention Cell was flying, which makes it harder for him to defend himself.*

Furthermore, he had to ...
