Re: FUNimation Announces "Kai" License ("DBZ Kai")

Holy shit! It's coming out in May?! I can't believe it's coming so soon! Also, that's the same month they're releasing Dragon Ball Season 4 and Dragon Box 3. Maybe we'll get the first volume of Kai on the same day. That would be so awesome! Well, looks like I'll have to sell my DB Kai Blu-ray Vol. 1 ...

Re: Toei already trying to find a replacement for Daisuke Gouri?

Yeah, didn't the description even state that it was a fake? In the tags it said it was fake.
Oh, I knew that he gave it away somehow...

Ah, so he was pulling a prank on us. Well, that was a pretty well-done prank. He made the video look like it was taped off of Fuji TV. And I'm guessing he just ...

Re: FUNimation Announces "Kai" License ("DBZ Kai")

Am I the only one who hopes this results in a streaming simulcast a la One Piece and FMA:Brotherhood? It seems like a logical direction.

Yeah, that's a really good idea. I don't think it matters that it's been almost a year since the series started. When Viz started doing the Naruto Shippuden ...

Re: Toei already trying to find a replacement for Daisuke Gouri?

If they have to, they could use the voice recordings he did for Z, can't they? Or is that in such a poorer quality compared to the recording for Kai? I hate to think of them replacing Gouri in any way.

I also hope they'll get Norio Wakamoto back for Cell later on.

Terrible Thai and Portuguese Dubs

Recently, kei17 posted up two clips, one from the Thai dub, and the other from the Portuguese dub on his Youtube account to show off how hilariously bad they are. I'm surprised he hasn't posted them up here yet. Here are the links:

Re: Viz Changes

In the Vizbig versions of the Dragon Ball manga, they censored out Goku's penis and various other things. I posted a video on Youtube showing some of these changes in volume 1.

The movies were animated in fullsccreen because fullscreen cells were cheaper. However, despite being animated in full screen, the Animators knew they were going to crop them into widescreen for the Theatrical release (because a Theater screen is widescreen) so when They animated the movies, they ...

I actually like the anime better. I prefer watching an action story in motion rather than a book. And the music really sets the mood. I do have to admit the manga is more consistent in art and has better pacing. However, I'm a fast reader, so I go through the manga pretty quickly. I think I read the ...

I do believe that the trait comes from the character of Sun Wukong (Son Goku). I read that he has a huge appetite. Also, the reason why it is common for shonen action heroes (Luffy and Naruto for example) to have huge appetites is because of Dragon Ball. Most modern shonen fighting manga have a lot ...

(2) Upscaling
The upscaling that your own video hardware (either the DVD player, Blu-ray player, receiver, TV...) does to 480p material would be arguably better than encoding an upscaled version (480p -> 1080p) directly on a Blu-ray disc. In this respect, it is pointless to release a Blu-ray ...

Well, I finally got my Dragon Box on Monday, but I didn't have time to look at it until Friday. I love this set! FUNimation, you have finally done something with Dragon Ball right! The only thing I don't like about the set is the slightly reduced quality of the video from the Japanese releases. When ...

Wow, they really do mean this to be for the "hardcore fans". This is exactly what I was hoping for. One of the main reasons I like the Dragon Box is because the audio is such higher quality than the FUNimation sets. Hopefully, they'll be able to keep that quality in these sets.

Well, the DVDs have no visible scratches on them, and the cases are in pretty good shape, so I guess a reasonable price for them would be 21.00 each. That's about half the price I bought them for off of CDJapan.

Anyone want to buy some Japanese Dragon Ball Z singles?

Now that I've ordered the American Dragon Box, I won't need my Japanese singles anymore. I have the first 6 of them. Is anyone interested in buying them from me?
