Re: DBZ's Japanese Audio on Blu-Ray
There's only one official release that incorporated the fan-recorded broadcast audio: the AB Groupe DB Blurays, which were seemingly canceled after the first set supposedly because Toei refused to give them the Dragon Box DVD master materials which would allow for a relatively better upscale than ...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/31/23!)
To be fair, it IS hilarious irony. You JUST started retrospecting Super & the last 2 Z films that series adapted & THEN Toei goes ahead & announces that they're doing essentially a Kai version of the arcs from Super from before Moro, combining the recutting aspect of Kai with the art clean-up of ...

Re: Weird Old Dub Stuff
Not sure if this is known / understood, but for any other passers-by wondering:
This is likely (almost certainly) due to the fact that the planet Neptune is adapted in Japanese as "Kaiou-sei" (海王星) and even the god Neptune from Roman mythology is known as "Kaijin" (海神). The "Kaiou" from Dragon ...

Re: Satan Piccolo - Polish only translation?
In the French AB Group dub he’s supposed to be called “Satan’s Little Heart,” since they translated Daimaoh to “Satan” and Piccolo means “small” in Italian.
I think in the Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins series there’s a boss called Daimaoh who was also sometimes translated as “Satan” in some games in the ...

I'm currently reading through it, starting the 22nd Budokai. Also, Zénpai was interviewed on the Kanzenshuu podcast a few months ago and talked at length about the translation

Re: Would Dragon Ball be successful in English-speaking countries if the old English dubs weren't Americanized?
It would be just as successful. Same as the Portuguese dub would be if they didn't turn it into a borderline parody. People should give more credit to the show itself.

Re: AB vidéo has given up on continuing their Dragon Ball releases on Blu Ray
Yey. Another good release goes unfinished. The Dragon Ball license ia cursed at this point.
It's intentional. They knew if they put out a perfect release they won't be able to sell the show anymore. They want to be able to continue to release flawed products with only the slightest ...

Re: AB vidéo has given up on continuing their Dragon Ball releases on Blu Ray
The thing is, this wasn't a perfect release. A perfect release would be a complete rescan and restoration. But Toei won't ever do that.

Re: Chances of Dragon Ball Early Days Collection?
They could easily replace it with the BGM from the Japanese releases of those games.
Only the Budokai and Tenkaichi (and Raging Blast) games had different soundtracks between the Japanese and overseas releases. The older games had the same soundtrack in all versions (aside from maybe the ...

Re: Super Saiyajin 4 (DAIMA) Visuals
Daima's SSJ4 has been growing on me, especially the adult version. I still feel however that it lacks contrast, at least in the hair (which could at least be a different shade of magenta compared to the fur) and and (lack of) belt area - the blue sash would help a lot. The biggest offender is the ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 18 - Official Discussion Thread
I don't really like the new SSJ4 design. Mainly on 3 areas: the forearms look strange with the transition between the fur and the skin, the hair and eyes don't contrast at all with the fur, and the lack of the blue belt kills the clothes' color scheme.

Re: "Sparking! ZERO" Official Announcement, Pre-, & Post-Release Discussion Thread
Why would you want a sequel when the game just came out? We're not in the 2000-2010s anymore. Honestly I'd rather they updated this one (free game modes and maps) and added DLC (for characters) instead of forcing us to buy a whole new game to get a couple new modes and a few new characters...

Re: KBABZ and Robo present: Daima Trivia (updated for Episode 10)
I wonder if, in a few decades or centuries, there'll be the Dragon Ball equivalent of Geoffrey of Monmouth (the guy who gave us a good chunk of what became pop culture fact about King Arthur and Camelot, among many other insights into Medieval misconceptions about Great Britain's own history) who ...

Re: The various sets of Dragon Balls at this point
^ Oh, you're right, I forgot it was said that way in some dialogues, I've fixed that point!
To be fair while that was the original reason (if I recall correctly it was either said for the first time by God during the 23rd Tournament or Goku when Kuririn and Muten Roshi offer their help to fight ...
