DBZ Shirts?

Post by Zuhalter2000 » Tue Jul 22, 2008 12:19 am

http://cgi.ebay.com/Dragonball-Z-GT-Ani ... dZViewItem

There are a bunch of these shirts on Ebay (search Dragon Ball Z Shirt). This one and others of its kind look sorta poor quality and iron-on'ed. Are there any "offical" shirts like this and are these even professionally made?

Toei does make DBZ shirts, but I can't seem to find the website.

I got an iron-on at Chinatown once... here's the best pic of it I can find. I loved that shirt so much, but I think I lost it somewhere :/
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I've seen the Freeza one as someone's YouTube background, I thought it was just some fanart. You've got to admit, the Chaozu one is pretty original.

Wow... I think wearing that outside of Japan would probably get you arrested.

"San", a Japanese honorific. It looks like Chaozu is calling Tenshinhan "Ten-san", which is how he generally refers to him in the series.

That reminds me of a T-shirt that has a picture of Gohan bursting out of Raditz's space pod, and reads "Rage With Fury. Batlle Power 1307". I guess they're really fond of those numbers in Japan.

Has anyone tried ordering from Toei's site? If it were actually possible for them to ship outside of Japan, that would be awesome. Looking at pretty pictures is one thing, but actually wearing the stuff... that's something else entirely.

I especially liked the "You still need more training!" shirt. It reminds me of how they'd always combine live action stuff in the Muppet Babies cartoon. And of course, I've always liked those washed out looking designs for Capsule Corp. and Red Ribbon. One thing I didn't get, though, was the number 17 on this particular RR shirt.

It says that 17 is the number of the troop Black was a member of, or some such thing.

You can buy a lot from Funi's own online store. They're not quite the same style as the Toei ones, and are probably made with a little less quality, but they're cheaper, a lot less shipping, and I think some of them even look cooler than Toei's:

Here are my favorites:

Group shot: http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827 ... 667/60/0/0

DBZ Movie 11 shirt (yes, a movie 11 shirt that looks cool): http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827 ... 730/60/0/0

A Cool Goku Shirt: http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827 ... 570/60/0/0

*I can post some images of the shirts if anyone wants me to, so that you won't have too look through all 50+ of them, a lot of them look really nice.

I love that "You still need more training" shirt. If they ship outside Japan I want to look into getting one. X3

While the American shirts have their own charm, what I like about the Japanese ones is that (for the most part) they're not as up in you face about the shirt being related to dragon ball. Unlike the American ones, a good number of the Japanese ones don't even say "Dragon Ball" or "DB" on them. I guess one can say that they're a more "subtle" way of showing your fandom while the American shirts make it obvious to even the non-fan that it's a Dragon Ball shirt.

Probably because that's all anyone needs to see in Japan to know it's a DB shirt.
