Dragon Quest Monsters+ is a spin-off manga series by Mine Yoshizaki (吉崎観音) set in the world of Dragon Quest focusing on the "Monsters" sub-brand.

The series ran for 36 chapters (34 "nights", a final night, and an epilogue) from the April 2000 through February 2003 issues^[1] of Enix's Monthly Shōnen Gangan magazine.

An additional one-shot chapter was published in the August 2012 issue of Square Enix's Monthly Gangan JOKER magazine.^[2]

"Dragon Quest" (ドラゴンクエスト Doragon Kuesuto): The overall franchise to which this manga series is a part of
"Monsters" (モンスターズ Monsutāzu): The sub-franchise to which this manga series is a part of; the "Monsters" series of video games began with "Terry's Wonderland" on the Nintendo Game Boy in 1998 (eventually making its way internationally as "Dragon Warrior Monsters" in 2000), and continues to this day.
"+" (Purasu): The appended "Plus" punctuation.

Riku Sanjō (serving as the writer) and Kōji Inada (serving as the artist) produced the original Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai manga series, which ran from the 1989 No. 45 to 1996 No. 52 issues of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.

In conjunction with 2020's new animated adaptation of Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai beginning that October (its second, following its original 1991 version), several related spin-offs and supporting products were released:

A prequel manga series, Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai - The Hero Avan and the Dark Lord of Hellfire, began with a five-page prologue chapter in the November 2020 issue of V-Jump^[3], which then included a splash about the manga series beginning in earnest next month^[4] in the following December 2020 issue^[5]. Original writer Riku Sanjō returned in a supervisory role (receiving the 原作 gensaku credit, referring to the "Original Work" of the original Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai manga), while Yūsaku Shibata produced the manga itself. This manga continues to run in V-Jump.
The card-based arcade game Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai - Xross Blade ran from October 2020 to March 2024.
The supporting Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai - Xross Blade manga by Yoshikazu Amami ran from the November 2020 to February 2024 issues Saikyō Jump, wrapping up at the same time as its corresponding arcade game's end-of-service.
The smartphone game Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: A Hero's Bonds, which ran from September 2021^[6] to April 2023^[7]^[8].

Yoshikazu Amami previously contributed the One Piece spin-off manga Chin Piece, which ran for 12 chapters from the July 2018 to May 2020 issue of Saikyō Jump, before picking up with Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai - Xross Blade a few months later.
