Dragon Ball Super (Jump Festa 2019 Book) is the Kanzenshuu designation for a promotional manga booklet available to attendees of Jump Festa 2019, an event held at Makuhari Messe 22 and 23 December 2018 in Tokyo, Japan.[note 1]

The book contains information about completed arcs in the Dragon Ball Super manga series by Toyotaro, a 14-page selection from chapter 23, a 12-page selection from chapter 39, and a preview of the (then-ongoing) Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc.

The book is notable for its inclusion of splash text with the phrase 『ドラゴンボール』の正統続編!! on its front cover ("Doragon Bōru" no Seitō Zokuhen! !, meaning Dragon Ball's "proper sequel" or "legitimate sequel" or "canonical sequel").[note 2]

Notes

  1. While it is certainly possible that this booklet was made available at other events or through other means, its original distribution — by confirmation means of our own acquisition in a packet of other Jump Festa '19 materials, as well as referencing various other online listings for sale on the second-hand market — does indeed appear to have been at Jump Festa '19.
  2. This is all a bit of translator's-choice. Check out Episode #0457 of our podcast for an in-depth look at the various phrases used to describe various spin-off, sequel, and interquel Dragon Ball works, including 正統続編.
