The timeline present in Chōzenshū 4, as well as information provided by Dragon Ball GT: Perfect Files Vol. 1, cite Dragon Ball GT as beginning in Age 789. A period of one year is baked into episodes 1 through 40, as Earth will explode if the Ultimate Dragon Balls are not returned within one year of a wish having been made with them.[2] Earth does explode, and is wished back with the Namekian Dragon Balls.[7] The following Tenka'ichi Budōkai in Dragon Ball GT Episode 41 must then take place on 07 May, 790, some time after this event. This proposed timeline indicates that Earth explodes in the early part of Age 790, and that Pilaf's wish[2] occurs some time before07 May, 789.
Because Dragon Ball GT episodes 39 and 40 explain that two weeks pass between Baby's defeat[6] and Earth's explosion, this article treats all events in Dragon Ball GT up through Baby's defeat as occurring in Age 789 as two weeks progress the timeline into Age 790 for Earth to explode one year after Pilaf's wish.
