I think Kuririn just got fed up with fighting when he got blown up by Frieza. The final straw though would have to be as he watched helplessly as Gohan struggled to fight Cell's Kamehameha. By then he gave up on fighting and settled for a family as he had always wished.

Gohan in my opinion was the fourth strongest. Vegeta was first, Goku second, Piccolo third. If Gohan's got into his rage mode then he would have probably been stronger than Piccolo, but not SSJ Goku and Vegeta.

One little detail people have been forgetting is that C18 wasn't really scared of what they could do to her but what they could do to the immediate surroundings. She decided to end the fight quickly to avoid them from hurting anyone.

I think destroying a planet has less to do with power than how its done. Blasts directed towards the core in a focused form are likely enough to destroy a planet. It is possible that even Roshi could destroy the Earth had he directed his Kamehameha towards its core.

It's hard to say because they only fought against themselves and collectively against C18. My guess is they are about as strong as Goku/Vegeta/Trunks at the start of the android saga.
