This is a complete list of all works by Akira Toriyama, spanning his complete body of manga, as well as character designs and other consultations for animated works, video games, marketing, etc.

Pre-Publication

Following a series of contest submissions and rejected drafts (up to 500 pages of declined content before Dr. Slump according to his original editor, Kazuhiko Torishima[1]), Akira Toriyama debuted within the pages of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in November 1978 with Wonder Island.

Two of Toriyama's original contest submissions were later reprinted: 1977's Awawa World across two issues of Bird Land Press (Toriyama's fanclub pamphlet), and 1978's Mysterious Rain Jack both across two issues of Bird Land Press and later as a bonus in Weekly Shōnen Jump itself.

Notes

  1. Though the main highlight is a reprint of Akria Toriyama's Mad Matic from earlier that year in 1982, Mysterious Rain Jack is also printed in this special magazine, the first wider-spread publication outside of Toriyama's fan publication.
  2. Explanation of Toriyama's collaborative relationship with Ooishi on Episode of Bardock
  3. Explanation of Toriyama's collaborative relationship with Toyotaro on Dragon Ball Super
  4. Explanation of tidbits from April 2020 issue of V-Jump
