M708A-1 is the official catalogue number of a piece of background music (BGM) arranged by Shunsuke Kikuchi for the Dragon Ball Z anime in 1989. The piece debuted in Dragon Ball Z Episode 1 which was broadcast on 26 April 1989.

Overview

M708A-1 is the first BGM in Dragon Ball Z based on the opening song (OP) CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA. Like most BGM in that group, it is transposed to F Major from the original key of E Major.

The full composition is part b of the suite entitled "Prologue & Sub-Title I", which is track #2 on both disc #4 of the Daizenshuu and disc #1 of the Dragon Ball Z BGM Collection. The piece was assigned the Kanzenshuu catalogue number of K-709 based on its placement in the series. Though it is the third BGM in Dragon Ball Z, it is the ninth BGM debuting after Dragon Ball Movie 3.

M708A-1 is given the title "Title Card I" on The Suburbs of kenisu's Magicant,[1] the most common source for fan titles of Kikuchi's compositions.
