Re: DBZ's Female Fanbase and Daisuke Nishio
I love the ridiculous characters and watching them interact. I love watching them grow up and have character development. I like the fights too(especially the more physical fights we saw early on), but I wouldn't be as interested in them if I wasn't interested in the characters.

Re: Are the female characters virgins before their husbands?
.... Does it really matter? It's just sex. Why not discuss the guys too? Did Kuririn get some before 18? Was Vegeta having wild alien babe sex in space before he and Bulma got it on?
But to answer your question, Bulma was almost definitely not a virgin since very few people make it to the age of 30 ...

Re: Do you find Bulma slutty?
No, because there's no such thing as a slut. Unless she's cheating or raping someone, there's nothing wrong with sex. Plus, most of her "questionable" actions happen when she is just a child herself. Of course a spoiled 16 year old girl who has gone her whole life getting whatever she wants is going ...

Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
... Are Dragon Ball fans of all people really complaining about Sailor Moon allegedly sexualizing teenage girls? I don't recall Sailor Moon ever getting her tube top ripped off or being sexually harrassed by a 400 year old man or wearing a bunny suit for half a story arc.

Re: Does the whole Bulma/Vegeta/Yamcha thing make any sense?
Bulma and Yamcha's relationship was doomed from the start. They only got together out of convenience and they were always fighting whenever we saw them. Bulma was jealous and clingy, while Yamcha often left for years at a time. It seemed inevitable that they'd break up (for good) sooner or later. I ...

Re: Dragon Ball and the Bechdel test.
And yes, people do feel empowered, I've read quotes, I've heard it in marketing class. There is this quote (and I sadly can't remember who said it but it was a black celebrity), and it was about one of the first ever TV shows with black people in it and it had such an astounding effect on this ...

Re: Dragon Ball and the Bechdel test.
I think this is a far better way to test female characters. It still has some issues, though.
I think the issue is that there aren't enough female creators around, but admittedly there are plenty of misogynist women and I know that female authors are reluctant to write female characters because ...

One of my favourite things about these new scenes is that Mr. Satan's drunken behaviour is apparently so disturbing that Bulma's mom actually opens her eyes.

Re: Battle of Gods character profiles.
So... the female characters' strong suits are all being pretty wives and mothers? Dragon Ball is a male-dominated show and the women are fairly underused, but come on. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but there's more to their characters than that.

Re: Might Vegeta have an OLDER brother?
It's also possible that the first Vegeta kid was a girl who was, I dunno... married off to another space royal family? (There's a bad Mary Sue fanfic waiting to happen.) Or maybe he or she is just dead.

Re: Should Vegeta achieve SSJ God?
Of course there's a canon. The manga is canon. Everything else isn't. (When it comes to internet debates about characters and plot and such at least. You can believe GT is canon if you want to, and you wouldn't be wrong. The manga is the only thing I think all fans should believe is canon.)

Re: Should Vegeta achieve SSJ God?
I do sort of agree with you. But I don't so much have a gripe with the form rather than the way Goku first achieves it. When they gather the necessary Saiyan to perform it they completely ignore Bra in favor of revealing Videl's pregnancy.
Not really. According to most guidebooks(with one ...

Re: Do you think Goku will have another child?
Some women can remain fertile well into their fifties(though it's very rare). Women giving birth in their late forties is not uncommon these days. Bulma had Bra when she was 46-47, which is the same age Chi-Chi was at the end of the manga so... there's in-universe precedent at least. However, it can ...

Hey, Bulma and Vegeta had a kid in their late 40s. It's possible.
But considering Goku and Chi-Chi are already grandparents at the end of the series, I doubt it.

Re: Characters who got too much glory
I hate it when people try to sugarcoat over Bulma's bad qualities because I actually like her BECAUSE of them. Unlike most of the female characters in the cast (who I feel are all fairly one-note and generic), she is a legitimately well-rounded character with good and bad qualities who plays a large ...

I just want to see this animated. (Unlikely though, since a series with a bunch of old guys and no Goku or Vegeta probably wouldn't make any money.)

Re: How did Bulma survive Vegeta?
In my experience, a woman can even be called a slut when she's actually REJECTING sex. I really don't understand society sometimes.
This is why I try to avoid most parts of the online DB fandom. Whenever a discussion about the female characters come up, it's always about how Chi-Chi's a screaming ...

Oh wow. Slut-shaming and Vegeta-apologism in the Dragon Ball fandom? I am surprised.
Yeah, how can that genocidal maniac who murdered billions of sentient beings stand being around that bitch who occasionally yells at him for being an asshole?

Re: DBZ in Australia
Probably because it's just not that profitable anymore. It's a 25 year old show, the animation is outdated, and I haven't seen any merchandise on the shelves in years(apart from specialty manga shops and stuff like DVDs).
