Before the finals begin, there is a greeting from the head priest of the Martial Arts Temple.[7]

Rules

The rules for the finals are as follows:[8]

  1. There is no time limit.
  2. Killing is prohibited, as is the use of weapons.
  3. Hitting your opponent in the eyes or privates is foul play.
  4. Any of the following will constitute a clear loss:
    • Falling out of the ring.
    • Losing consciousness for ten seconds.
    • Saying you give up.

Quarter-Finals

 Bacterian vs. Kuririn
Winner: Kuririn (by resignation)

Bacterian has never bathed in his life and uses his stench to deter his opponent. Goku reminds Kuririn he has no nose, however, which allows him to fight back. He farts in Bacterian's face, making him give up.[7]

Jackie Chun vs. Yamcha
Winner: Jackie Chun (by ring-out)

Yamcha's attacks, including the Rōga Fū-Fū Ken, have no effect on Jackie Chun, who creates a gust of wind to blow his opponent out of the ring.[9]

Namu vs. Lan-Fan
Winner: Namu (by knock-out)

Lan-Fan pretends to be innocent and vulnerable to catch Namu off-guard, but he is determined to win the prize money so that he can buy water for his village. When Lan-Fan takes off her clothes to unnerve Namu, he closes his eyes and manages to knock her out.[10]

Son Goku vs. Giran
Winner: Son Goku (by resignation)

Giran traps Goku in his Guru-Guru Gum and throws him out of the ring, but Goku saves himself by calling for Kinto'un. Giran protests, but the announcer and head priest decide to allow it just once. Goku is still trapped inside the gum, but his tail grows back, giving him the confidence and strength to break free. Giran is intimidated and gives up.[11]

Semi-Finals

 Kuririn vs. Jackie Chun
Winner: Jackie Chun (by knock-out)

Kuririn and Jackie Chun move so fast that the audience cannot tell what is happening, so the announcer asks them for a play-by-play demonstration. Afterwards, Kuririn distracts Jackie with a pair of panties and kicks him out of the ring. Jackie propels himself back with a Kamehameha, however, and knocks Kuririn out after fooling him with an afterimage.[12]

Namu vs. Son Goku
Winner: Son Goku (by ring-out)

Goku instantly mimics Jackie's afterimage technique from the previous match, but Namu sees through it. Namu jumps into the air and uses his Tenkū Pekeji-Ken, but fails to knock Goku out with it. When he tries again, Goku manages to kick Namu just before he hits the ground, sending him flying out of the ring.[5]

Final Match

 Jackie Chun vs. Son Goku
Winner: Jackie Chun (by sudden death)

Jackie Chun and Son Goku have a Kamehameha versus Kamehameha clash and trick each other with double and triple afterimages. After several more attempts to outdo each other, Jackie catches Goku inside his Bankoku-Bikkuri-Shō. Goku gets close to giving up, but then he sees the full moon and turns into a Great Ape. Jackie spends his energy blowing up the moon with a full-power Kamehameha, and the match ends in a double knockout. The winner is whoever manages to stand up and say "Yūshō shita mon nē" (I am the champion), which Jackie Chun pulls off first.[13]
